| I know what you mean!! Skeeter was the same way!! I hired a mobile groomer who came to my house and she clipped Skeeter in her mobile grooming van in my backyard!! It was neat!! She said when I came to check on him he would cry when he saw me!! She shewed me away!! Anyway.. He wears clothes everyday so he doesn't miss his knotted hair and we just keep his topknot longer so he can wear boy bows in his hair.. He looks and feels so much better!! His clothes and jackets keep him warm now so he doesn't miss his fur!! Great Job!! Better than what I can do and I know Skeeter wouldn't even let me come close with the clippers!! It was better for our Mobile Groomer to do it!! Then she is the bad guy and not me!!

| What's cotton puppy hair? Whenever Harley wears clothes I brush him out afterwards and tere are always these HORRIBLE knots in the white fuzzy part of his hair. It's always a pain to brush out and always hurts him.. Is this what you guys are talking about?

| He looks good. I shaved Skittles (by accident ..was trying to fix a haircut gone wrong and the clippers just went crazy, lol ). I agree on the taking to the groomers from now on! I will only shampoo, blow dryer and fix her topknot...leave the cutting to them. I bet he likes being free of all that hair. I know Skittles was.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | GOOD GROOMING JOB ! Yorkiemom1970 is right - Cotton IS hard to keep up with - but CAN be beautiful with the right products & regular grooming. Chanel is cotton ....I did have to cut her short when she was a 1-1/2 years old - she got tangled from clothes and I didn't want to hurt her by trying to get the knots out.... so she had her 1st puppy cut I KEPT up with the hair and she now has very long hair with no tangles - well...maybe a few but not many !! I've GOT to check out that Motions - I have that kind of hair myself and nothing has ever helped...Where is it sold ? |

| Yeah I have recovered.... probably did so quickly because he really loves it, and so do I. He is sooooo soft and smooth now, and I dunno when the silk hair is supposed to start growing in, but I think Toby was already starting to get his on his, b/c the hair looked really shinny by his roots before I shaved him. Its kinda weird but I want to pick him up more for some reason.....????? Plus looks so much cleaner. So that means less baths, good for him!!! And I only have to brush his face. When he went to sleep last night I started to trim him up in the shaggy spots. So he looks better now then he did in the pictures!!! Oh and by the way I use CC Systems day to day shampoo, conditioner, and ice on ice. I will probably go to the groomer from now on, but the way he was whining and crying and attacking the clippers, I am kinda scared now because he acted like a little terror. Thats embarrassing!!! I took him to the groomers before to get his ears shaved and his feet trimmed and she was weird when I asked how he acted, now I know why. She even asked me if I brushed him because of the way he SCREAMS when you brush the back of his legs.I will probably get him professionally done for Christmas!!!!

| What a handsome young man...you did a great job, esp considering this is your 1st attempt and his first cut. I am sure you both were frazzled by the time it was over!! I have always groomed my dogs...but then again Bentley is my first yorkie and I am a bit scared of doing anything more than rump, feet and ears right now. Does anyone know of a good site or book to show the different cuts for yorkies? My schnauzer is pretty good about the grooming deal, except when it comes to his rump, then he just sits down so I can't get to it. He has cottony type hair and matts really easily so I can definately empathize w/ you. Right now I kind of want to let Bentley grow out to watch how he changes coloring, plus OK can be very cold in the winter. We do brush ALL the time though to keep the matts at bay...he has gotten used to it now. Clippers are still a bit of a challenge. I got a small battery operated pair to do his face, foot pads and rump, it is quieter and can be hidden in your hand better....really helps! Also I would turn the clippers on and sit them next to me for a couple of minutes every so often when he would sit in my lap or next to me...this helped ALOT on getting him past the fear and attack issues! I promise it does get easier...whether you choose to do it in the future or have a groomer do it, be regular....the more they go through it the better they get and pretty soon he will be an old hand and no bother at all!
