| Our First Show/Match Well, we had our first experience showing yesterday at the Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club all breed Sanctioned Match. We did pretty good. I had both of my babies in and my male won Best of Breed and then took Best in Group (toys) and then we had to compete in Best Puppy in Match. We didn't win that, but the experience was great. I was so very proud of my babies. They did a wonderful job walking and I had a great time. It really gave me the practice I needed before really showing against the pros and gave my yorkies the chance to get experince in the ring and see/hear other dogs. My husband even had to go in the ring for the first time, since both our dogs won their spot 6-9 puppies (male and female). He actually did pretty good. Hard to believe he had open heart surgery just 2 months ago. The judge was so nice and talked to us after the show - that he knew we had a group win when he saw my male. He said that it is a very special yorkie and will win many group wins to come, if we take good care of him and let a lot of hands on him. I can't wait for more opportunitues. I know we won't win all the time, but this was really a great moral booster and we need this for the confidence to do well in the ring. I haven't shown since the 80's and was really nervous! Here are some photos of the match. It was outside and very windy. Not the best conditions for our yorkies. But at least the skies were clear and not too too hot. Hope you all enjoy the photos. |

| Thank you so much ChloeandJ and B-Shai's Mom - yes it was a lot of fun, but still butterflies in my tummy. Since They are so unpredictable since they are pups. So when we went - I was not sure what could happen. Here is a pic of Easy! Even though she didn't get Best of Breed - I was very proud of her. The match people gave all the dogs stuffed doggy toys. That was so thoughtful of them and Easy was so happy to get the toy. I think she really understood that she won it. I also learned yesterday that if I have to have both of my dogs compete against one another - never go first ahead of Easy. She spent the whole time walking - running trying to catch up with me and Bill (my hubby) had her on his lead showing her. Haha. I am sure it was a funny sight. |

| Our next show is in Feb. unless I can find a sooner one. I missed the Marietta show by one day. That is waht happens when you don'tkeep up on top of things. My husband must have had a good time, because he was looking at campers last night for shows. This will save on hotel bills in the end. It is a lot of fun - showing. |

| Congratulations!! What a spectacular day you all had. How exciting to see all your work pay off with such an honor of not winning once, but twice. It shows that there are even bigger brighter days coming in your future and I wish you all the best and luck in the rings. Thank you for sharing your photo's, they are awesome !

| Thanks Schatzie! I just hope I can do well at the next one and get both of them finished between now and next year. I will try my best. It is a lot of work setting up, grooming, and the stress of showing, and then travel too. But I think once I make more friends at the shows it won't be so bad. When I showed back in the 80's I went with all my yorkie friends and that was fun. Even if we didn't all win we had fun and one another's company. There aren't any yorkie clubs here in my area. I thought about starting one - but need to know more people with yorkies in my area - North Atlanta. Thank you everyone/ If anyone has any tips - I will be more than glad to listen. Thanks, T. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I love seeing dog show pictures. That's something I've never experienced, so it's cool to get pictures and an insider's perspective. Congratulations to you and your Yorkies.

| I hope to see you too Gazou's mom and congratulations to you! I have seen gazou pictures (avitar) here on YT and s/he is very nice looking. I thought you were probably showing. It would be so cool if we had a show category/forum spot here on YT to learn and share information about showing. Thanks Alaskayorkie. I like show pictures too. It is just so neat to see and expereince. You really learn a lot to be able to see the dog in real life and understand their standard better. I have included some more show pictures. Not the best, but you might like seeing them. One is with my husband showing Easy. He did a great job for his first time ever in the ring. I was so proud of him and Easy for listening to my hubby's commands. The other is me thinking - if I put that other knee on the ground - I might never get back up again! T. |
