I think I told you, the ones that work best for me in spring are some ones a friend made me. They are fleece on the inside with a denim material on the outside. She sprays the denim with a waterproofer. But, come to think of it, I wonder how safe that is for a Yorkie's pads? The nice thing about denim is it patches easily.
I don't remember you telling me about the denim, but that sounds great!! The snow started really melting here yesterday (just in time for more snow tonight! :eek:), and so Bella had to wade through puddles. :/ Needless to say, I need to come up with a better plan!! The pleather itself doesn't let water in, but the seams do. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Can you find out what she uses to waterproof the denim for me? That might work! (I used fleece on the inside of my pleather ones too, which I liked!)

Yes, the pleather is bendable and worked great as far as that's concerned! I know what you mean about liking her being able to move....that's why we got the fleece ones too! They just can't walk very good in shoes. Even though they are AH-DORABLE I must say! :P
Anyway, let me know about the canvas....I think a heavy canvas or a heavy denim sprayed with a waterproofer might be our answer!! Yes, let's definitely keep each other posted of developments on this idea!! :D

Alaska booties & thermal undershirt arrived!

Sophie's booties and thermal shirt arrived so quickly after I ordered them, and they are WONDERFUL!! It's been impossible to find booties small enough to fit Sophie (only 2 lbs, 6 oz.), but Rebecca's smallest booties fit Sophie perfectly! I love how they velcro on snuggly, but still slip on and off so easily. And the thermal undershirt keeps her nice and toasty with her jacket on top. It's been in the twenties here, which is just too cold for Sophie because she has no meat on her little bones, lol. But with her booties and thermal, she had a blast playing in the snow! I'm definitely ordering more booties and another thermal. I think black would be better, though, because the pink get super dirty. Which I guess just means she had fun playing outside, so I'm not complaining too much. :p

Layla is adorable. I must be missing something but, where did you guys buy these booties? Do they work for cement? I live in Miami and when I walk my Jeannie her paws get dirty so I either wipe them with baby wipes or have to wash them.

My only concern with cement would be they would wear out quickly. They're made of fleece, so it's like walking around outside with socks on.

Jillie's has worn out a couple on snow this year, but she wears them every day, and part of the problem may have been nails that needed a trimming.

Love those pics. Looks like the booties fit great! And I didn't realize Rebecca sold thermal shirts. Hmmm ... ;)

And to those who are making them based on that design, I don't see a problem with it. I think it's a pretty standard design for dog mushing. Come Iditarod time, there are dozens of people making the same basic bootie for hundreds of dogs.
