Hello!

My name is Julie, I am a Proud Army wife of a deployed soldier. We have 3 children, Jacob (8), Clara (4) and Madeline ( 5 months). We just welcomed our first Yorkie into the family, her name is Callie and she's 6 weeks old.

I am glad I found this forum, I am wanting all the information I can get on our new girl!

Welcome Julie! Callie is adorable! 6 weeks is way too young for her to be away from momma, so keep a close eye on her! Congrats! You will love this place!

That's EXACTLY what I thought! I couldn't believe they were selling her this young It makes me nervous. She is incredibly playful and energetic but today she's been sleeping all day on the couch.

Hello and WELCOME ! She is adorable.

You'll find a lot of info here, to say the least . Six weeks is generally thought to be too early for a pup to be away from its Mama. But, she is with you now - so let's start there w/ this little stinker...

*Is she eating okay? How often? I would free-feed, at this young age

*Do you have Nutrical at home for a possible hypoglycemic episode?

*She'll need extra care in terms of socializing since she is away from Mom and littermates...this really isn't my area, but the breeders here will know how to help there

Your baby is adorable. Six weeks, as everyone else has stated is a bit young, just being weaned off of mom.....be ever watchful....don't let her be overhandled, or over played. Make sure she gets plenty of rest and about 5 meals a day. Keep NutriCal on hand. As a late night meal, gerber's rice cereal with goat's milk (canned mix with = parts of distilled water) fresh just the way it is, but at room temp. Add a bit of Karo syrup......Careful not to take her out in public until she's had all her shots.

Has she been to the vet's yet.....

Beautiful little girl. I have 6week old puppies that are still nursing and eating puppy blended food mixed with water. Take good care of her being so young. If these puppies were for sale I wouldn't let them go till 4 months old.

* I am free feeding, I keep a fresh mix of soft food, a little hard and water for her out all day. Along with water. I have been encouraging her to eat often. She does eat without any problems.

* I have a crate and do "quiet time" with her. As I know being over-stimulated isn't a good thing. My kids are very good with her and understand that she is delicate.

* I don't have Nutri-cal, I have Energel. Is that okay?

Welcome to YT your pup is adorable. Other posters have talked about hypoglycemia, and over handling - getting proper rest etc.

For lots of reasons it would be a good idea to have a "safe" area for your puppy to play and sleep in. This could be a baby's playpen - a crate - a sectioned off area of your living room or kitchen. Where ever you spend the most time and can easily see her and make her part of the familly even if she is in her safe area. Check to see the area is draft free - has some soft and comfy bed for her - some water = a couple of toys

She has a kennel with blanket, water and toys available to her in there. That is where she goes for quiet time.
