| Have you done any health study on what happens as these dogs become whiter and whiter? It is also a sign of to much inbreeding and why they stopped trying for white yorkies after the turn of the century. You might want to pickup Genetics of the dog by Malcom B. Willis.

If you study the yorkie breeding practices of show breeders you will see that they have done extensive inbreeding in the traditional colors. Inbreeding was done to reduce the size of the offspring. Anytime you inbreed you are doubling the recessive genes. If one dog carries the the gene for gold and you breed it back to it's own offspring you might produce gold offspring. If you do the same with a dog carrying the gene for white you might produce white pups. On the negative side if you have a dog carrying a gene for a defect and you inbreed you produce the defect. This is true for all colors of Yorkies.

Eventually the litters will get smaller and smaller until you will not have any more puppies if you continue to do this and not bring in new blood.

All of my dogs live in my house and are treated as members of my family. One more note for you. I see from your posts you seem to be against all breeding of dogs. This is a picture forum and is not the place for this discussion and not the place for you to attack me or anyone else who raises Yorkies that are non-standard colors.

I have not attacked you but asked a question because your puppies are so white. If you study about the piebald recessive gene then you see there is a concern in the genetics world about these litters getting smaller and smaller...and the need to bring in new blood.

Two of the three litters that produced these white pups had 5 puppies in them. The average litter is usually 3. It would seem the litters are getting larger. Research I have done suggests that they felt there was no need to breed white yorkies because there was already a white toy breed, the west Highland White Terrier. Let me quote you, "Eventually the litters will get smaller and smaller until you will not have any more puppies if you continue to do this and not bring in new blood" In that quote you are saying that if I continue to inbreed. Since I don't inbreed and you are accusing me of it I do take that as personally attacking me. Now, if you had said that breeders who do this have smaller litters that would not have been a personal attack on me.

Can you help me determine what color my dog is? There are two options. You can send scanned pictures of the dog and a scanned copy of the dog registration application for the dog in question attached to e-mail to awards@akc.org. Please allow several business days for a response. At least two 3 x 5 color photographs, providing close-up front and side views of the dog in a standing position, are required. If you do not have access to a scanner, you can also send the pictures and a photocopy of the application to our Special Services department by regular US mail to: American Kennel Club Attn: Special Services 8051 Arco Corporate Drive, Suite 100 Raleigh, NC 27617-3390 Please allow three to four weeks for handling and be sure to include a return address, phone number and/or e-mail address so they may give you their determination of the color of the dog. Please note that it may be difficult to determine the color from a digital image and you may be requested to send the photographs by mail. If you have specific questions about the possible colors of a breed, you can contact a representative of our Special Services Department. You can contact the American Kennel Club’s Special Services Department from 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, Eastern Time at (919) 233-9767. You can also address e-mail to awards@akc.org. Please note that the registry of the American Kennel Club is based on parentage and not the coat color of a member of any breed. However, coat color can sometime alert us to an error in the breeding of a particular litter. The American Kennel Club’s policy is to review any litter that contains a member that possess a non-standard coat color for it’s breed.
