| SO glad to hear that mommy and babies are doing great!! Too bad things like this happen, but they do! Glad you shared your story!! Better for people to know that this happens, then to think it doesn't. And the expense was a good idea to put in, because I don't think everyone has $900. laying around!! Its something people need to think about.. Can I ask how big your girl is?? Your babies are a good size!! Once again, Congratulations!!

| So happy to hear all is well. New babies!!!! You mentioned a head was present for 30 mins. If you can see a body part either head or feet, you do have a good option. As the human OB you gently delivery the pup...a bit of KY jelly around the vulva and a dry cloth applied to the body part and pull down towards the body gently. The big problem is when a bitch labors and there is no pup coming down the birth canal. If you actually see a puppy then you know it has passed through the pelvis and just needs some help ..if the contractions stop, I delivery the pup as fast as possible...that will as a rule stimulate contractions for the next pup..or a shot of oxy will as a rule be tried before a section..at least I perfer it to a section...when all else fails it is time to cut them out. Nursing after a section has never been a problem for any of my bitches. Best wishes for you new babies. Last edited by YorkieRose; 10-01-2005 at 08:46 AM. |

Assisting the pup in delivery would also have expired her, in this case the pup was not in any way going to go completly through the canal. This is what I observed and was told during the C- Section. Yes I watched the WHOLE Surgery from start to finish. I also assisted with my Vet. What an experience. I have had 2 C-Sections myself, but was put asleep during both. All and all everything is ok now. Thanks for the info and concerns.
