How often do you groom them? What do you have done? I want to let Ella's coat grow out but I'm having a hard time finding someone who doesn't mess her up.

I brush and comb the biewers every day. The ones in full coat I check for mats and sticks or leaves from the yard everytime they get in my lap. I start grooming and combing when they are about 6 weeks old. We start standing on my grooming table to be brushed or combed at about 8 weeks.

The full coated biewers go to the groomer once a month for a bath, feet trim, nails clipped. I only have full coats on those that are in the show ring. Abbi has always been in a puppy cut. My Havanese is also in a puppy cut--he has two layers of coat and is impossible to keep in coat. Itzi has a silky coat and it wasn't difficult to keep up but Cruiser's coat was 3xs as thick and he was always bringing in the outside yard in his coat--I think Cruiser is more playful since we cut him down.

I think it is very difficult to find the right groomer--tell them on the first visit how to groom the feet and tip the ears--you want a groomer experienced on Yorkies--if they listen the first time and don't mess up the feet or ears, I would use them again.

It is also a case of the right grooming products. I like Plush Puppy and Vellus.

How short is a puppy cut? I cut my yorkies myself. But with my biewer I wanted to see a professional at work. Well I think I made her nervous. The groomer that is. So Ella's cut did not exactly turn out as I had envisioned.

I am so sorry. The dogs kept their long hair for a ponytail. Their beards were cut to shoulder length. Their main coat was layered and cut even with their body. The legs were cut to about an inch and fluffs out. I hope this makes sense.
