Yodi's Adventure Photos - YorkieTalk's Traveling Yorkie 4 Attachment(s) Yodi is going on a trip to meet as many YTers as possible. So far there are 30+ members who Yodi will be visiting, which will be about 8 months of traveling across the USA, Canada and the UK!! I know Yodi is going to have a lot of fun on her adventure and so are the YTers she visits. :D You can follow Yodi on her Twitter and on her live Google Map! Members are free to post and comment on either Yodi's Twitter or on her Google Map. In fact, she likes comments! Hehehe. :D You can also follow Yodi right here on YorkieTalk of course. This thread will be for all the posts and photos of her visits put together collectively to tell her story. This is so that members can find the photos easily and to prevent the discussion thread getting confusing and members missing out on seeing photos. The thread for anything Yodi, (Yodi chat, Yodi visits, Yodi photos, Yodi questions and maybe the odd hint of her next destination) can be found here. Yodi will be traveling hopefully for a long time. Members can invite Yodi into their homes by PMing me. A new place for Yodi to visit will be chosen at random after each member Yodi visits. Even when Yodi is traveling, feel free to PM me and I can add you to the list of places for Yodi to visit. Please note, this is only open to full YorkieTalk Donating Members, (a member who has donated a minimum of $25). I have run this through Admin to make sure it's okay for us to do this and they said that it was fine, so thank you to Admin, and also thank you for being more than helpful with this. ~~~ Yodi's adventure starts right here in Nottinghamshire, England. We took a trip at the weekend to visit the castle, walk round the museum and the Robin Hood statue. Nottingham Castle - taken from the castle grounds, Amelia had Yodi at this point and when I tried to take her she cried... so to save embrassment of a screaming child I let her keep hold of her. Views from the Castle - in the first photo you can see the first industrial part of Nottingham including the British Waterworks building which was built in 1696! Some of the surrounding buildings aren't as old as you can see from the picure. The second photo shows the windmill in the distance, (sort of central in the photo) and also part of one of the many churches. The area in the forground is the main ring road around the city centre and the building nearest is a carpark. At the foot of this is a canal which would of been the original moat for the castle. I would of leaned over and taken a photo of the canal and the grounds below... but I'm scared of heights and that was just about as much as I could handle! The third photo is a more modern development. The white tent like building is the Inland Revenue building. The buildings around it are offices. The funny round white things actually rise at a certain temperature to allow air into the buildings when they get hot. In the far distance you can see Beacon Hill which is the square looking area of trees and the hill next to that is a nature reserve. Both of those areas are part of what would of been Sherwood Forest before developement took over. There is very little of Sherwood Forest left near the city now but thankfully lots around the area I live. :) |
3 Attachment(s) The next two photos are of Yodi on the Castle wall, (yes Amelia let me have her back for a while), in the distance of one you can see the modern look of Nottingham which would of been farm land and at one point Nottingham village. The other photo shows the grounds. In both photos you can see the wall which would of held the drawbridge over the moat. Then we went to see the Robin Hood statue and Yodi sat and had her photo taken... much to the bemusement of an American couple who had just been taking each others photos infront of it with their baby. |
2 Attachment(s) Finally the photos of Yodi ready to go on her adventure. She's packed a few things as a gift to her next host and also a notebook which she will be taking with her to all the members she vists so they can write in it. In the notebook I've included a couple of postcards from Nottingham and Sherwood Forest and wrote a little message... I would take photos, but the notebook is just for the members she visits. :p Now she's ready to go meet some more YTers.... but where will she go!!!! :p She will be leaving tomorrow morning! :cheer: |
Sorry for the Delay 4 Attachment(s) Hello Everyone! I am very sorry for the delay of Yodi. I had a family emergency and had to drive to Michigan on Thursday and did not get back in until last night. We drove straight through about 14 hours, not fun, but it had to be done. Since I was out all weekend, I did not get to do the things that I had planned to do with Yodi. I only have a few pics, but some is better than none. I wish I had more time, but I know everyone is anxious to see where she is going next! I apoligize for my tardiness, but she should get to her destination by the end of the week :) I once again would like to thank Gypsy&Me for putting this together, and I know that it will be a fun experience for everybody :) 1. I first took Yodi out of the package 2. Yodi and Ben 3. Yodi and the gift that Gypsy&Me sent. Its a little Robin Hood Bear, so cute! Ben was more interesting in that the he was in Yodi 4. This is Yodi at the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Its very pretty at night, its lights up in all different colors and the colors change as you go over it, its really neat. Whoops, I switched up picture 3 and 4! |
1 Attachment(s) 5. This is Yodi looking like she is on the bridge! **Im sorry I dont have more pics. I had planned to take her down to the city and do all of the city adventours, and I wanted to take her to the FDR mansion, but I wasnt able do. Maybe next time she visits we can do that :) |
Yodi's 1st Memorial Day FAMILY Barbecue! 3 Attachment(s) Sorry..........I thought pictures came after the END of each visit! Gosh, I give a couple of pics of Yodi's arrival and now everybody wants pictures every day!??!:p Well to tell you the truth, Yodi's first couple of days with us was about as exciting for her as watching paint dry............literally! :p Hubby and I spent all day Saturday & Sunday painting our basement, so Yodi was just here chillin' with the other fur-kids. But today, Memorial Day :flag42:, Yodi was "one of the family" as she joined in the fun of our family barbecue. She got to meet and play with all the grand-kids, and play in my flower-bed with Lucky, Toby, and Halle. I made them all stop...............................just long enough for a few pictures. So.............here ya go....... Attachment 277978 Halle & Yodi Yodi with the boys (Lucky & Toby) Attachment 277979 Attachment 277977The grand-kids; LtoR Allie, Jesse, Emily & Yodi, and Kaleigh |

Site-seeing with Yodi! 4 Attachment(s) I was up early as always........on vacation, but still up at 5:15am. What is up with that? But, it did get me going sooner. Our day started with dropping the boys (Lucky & Toby) off at the groomers for summer haircuts, then back home for breakfast......pancakes anyone? After breakfast, we (hubby, Emily, Yodi and Halle and myself) began our outing to "See the Sights  of Omaha"!!!! Are you ready?:p Are you excited? :D Get ready.......this is Omaha, Nebraska after all :)........a city right smack dab in the middle of.......well, I'll let you fill the last part in;). No......seriously, Omaha is my hometown..born and raised here & I turned out ok. But, enough jibber-jabber.......here is our day! First stop: Rosenblatt Stadium - Home of the College World Series Read about Rosenblatt's history here: Rosenblatt Stadium - Omaha, Nebraska Attachment 278077Yodi in front of the stadium AND at the statue depicting the college teams' "road to the world series" Attachment 278076 Next stop, just a skip and a hop away from Rosenblatt, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Visit the zoo website here: Home | Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo Attachment 278078 Yodi & Emily outside the zoo entrance AND Yodi in front of a zoo attraction known as the Desert Dome. Attachment 278079 Stay tuned..........there's a little bit more;) |
...a couple more little stops along the way......... 2 Attachment(s) Well who would ever think that a trip to a furniture store would be a vacation spot???? Only in Nebraska! Yep, our 3rd stop was at my workplace actually...Nebraska Furniture Mart, also known for being "America's Largest Home Furnishings Store". People do come from all over to shop here, so much so that they built another NFM store in Kansas City about 4-5 years ago and also have a small store in Des Moines, Iowa. The business was built by a little Jewish lady well known here as Mrs. "B". She died in 1998 at the age of 104! Read about NFM's history here:Nebraska Furniture Mart ? History Attachment 278080 Yodi & Emily outside NFM's main store. There are 3 buildings on the campus, Main Store; home furnishings & carpet, Mega Mart building; electronics and appliances, and a third building called Mrs B's Clearance Center. Our last stop was just at one of the big "O's" found around town. The phrase is used in slogans in advertising Omaha.......if you're ever in the "Big O", be sure to stop by and visit us......just like Yodi did! Attachment 278081 And that ends our visit with Yodi! We LOVED having her here and are anxious to see and hear about all of her adventures to come. Where is she going next.............stay tuned to find out! |
Thursday, June 4th, 2009 - The Arrival 4 Attachment(s) This is the beginning of the story of Yodi's adventure in the Greater Vancouver Region of British Columbia, Canada: Yodi escaping her stuffy box... Attachment 279325 (Click on picture for animation) P.S. To listen to (or read, rather) Yodi's whines  check out her regular tweeting on twitter. :) |
The 2010 Olympic Oval 4 Attachment(s) Before getting to the next destination, Yodi was almost blown away by the wind! She's a super lightweight. What a tiny little girl she is! Without further ado, Yodi gets to visit the Richmond Olympic Oval where the ice events of the 2010 Olympics will be taking place! The outside surrounding area is still under construction. Again, details of Yodi's first hand experience of the excitement can be found on her twitter page. |
The First Impression 3 Attachment(s) I don't know how to say this. I would like to start with an apology for my little girl. She is always letting her excitement get to her. She's been anticipating the arrival of a new furry friend for what feels like a LONG time for her. She's been an avid follower of Yodi's travels from the beginning. Finally, the promised sleepover, however brief, has become reality. I can't really blame her. But I feel bad as a parent for her poor manners... It's all my fault. I hope Yodi can accept the boatload of affection Pichu's pouring onto her.:eek::eek: |
More excited than you know... 2 Attachment(s) You had to be there to see the craziness. Pichu was CRAZY and until Yodi went to bed, she was still just as obsessed with Yodi as ever. I think Yodi must have the sweetest doggy scent ever--or she's smelling luckylady's yummy party feast. What you do not see is the literal flying, hopping, bouncing eagerness to reach Yodi when one of us so much as handles Yodi to take her out the door in preparation for the day's outting! And did I mention Pichu was being VERY vocal about it?! That is too weird and amusing at the same time! I had my jaw dropped most of the day today! It does not end here... It's simply amazing at how crazy in love Pichu is with Yodi. However, I am not so sure the feeling is mutual. |
Vancouver Convention Centre 2009 4 Attachment(s) The Vancouver Convention Center finished building not long ago just this year! It's just one of my favourite spots to relax and enjoy the clean air and gentle breeze as you face the harbor. For now, it's still a really enjoyable, peaceful, clean and beautiful place. :) The Pichu sniff test... She's just being weird again... Attachment 279340Attachment 279341 |
*shock* 4 Attachment(s) Here I was thinking, "Awww, how cute! Pichu even gave Yodi's tushy a good whiff but, darnit, I missed getting a shot of it!" "Okay... NOW you're making me nervous...." Attachment 279344 NO, those legs are NOT mine nor do they belong to anyone I know! Honestly, I did not see this coming... :2omg::2omg::2omg: |
Is that how you treat a very loved FRIEND?!? 2 Attachment(s) Pichu dashed off acting the part of a stork delivering to this stranger woman who obviously has no need for more children for the time being, fur or skin... her very new best friend! :thumbdown I am so embarrassed as the host family to have our very sweet and gentle guest treated in this way. Attachment 279346Attachment 279347 Pichu had actually DROPPED Yodi RIGHT at the FOOT of this woman and stood there so proud of herself wagging her tail away like she did good! (Yes, I missed that shot too as my mouth was wide open and speechless.):eek::eek: I could tell RIGHT AWAY, Yodi was not amused! I didn't need to read her twitter to find that out! Thank goodness this stranger and her maid and her baby girl did not seem to take offense nor did they scream in fear of a lunatic dog running their way! Yes, she had a crazed look in her eyes, I just know it! Even looking from behind, I can see the frenzied red glow Pichu had around her. I swear she must have had the little horns to go with it--cute, yes, but WOW, the little devil! :p |
Yodi is upset. 4 Attachment(s) Attachment 279348"Hey, Yodi!" Attachment 279349"Aww, Mommy, Yodi is ignoring meeeee~! Please make her stop." Attachment 279350"Yodi! Hey, I'm talking to you!" :eyebrow2: Attachment 279351"Don't make me come after you.... Pretty please?" |
Pichu is not winning herself any points. 4 Attachment(s) Attachment 279352"I'm coming for you!" Attachment 279353"Yodi, you hear me??" Attachment 279354"I am not giving up!" Attachment 279355"I know what..." |
Pichu is becoming a monster! 4 Attachment(s) Attachment 279358"I will..." Attachment 279359"...eat you!!! Raawwr!" :animal-pa |
Just kidding! 4 Attachment(s) Soooo... after saying goodbye to the beautiful scenery and in the hopes of Yodi cheering up, I had decided to take her for a culinary experience only available in our Downtown Vancouver. It is known as THE place to buy your hot dogs. People suffer the poor hours and LONG line-ups to eat here. Their hot dog umbrella stand is known as "JAPADOG". They've recently opened another location with even more limited hours (catering to the weekday downtown office lunching bunch). But location number two sports a new menu which hosts FISH sausages that the very busy original location lacks! They make you WORK for the new attractions. So anyway, seeing that the original stand still had a line-up, albeit a short one, we decided to take Yodi to try the fish dogs. Fortunately, it was far from busy as it was also nearing 5 pm. |
Downtown Vancouver Culinary Specialty - JapaDog 4 Attachment(s) Seeing as how Yodi had only just landed in Vancouver today and already we must have more than exhausted her physically, while Pichu must have her emotionally worn down also, Yodi was encouraged by me to take a nap inside the well ventilated bag while we await our order of JapaDogs. :) Attachment 279368 Unfortunately, none of us were aware of the new rule Pichu had in place. We apparently needed her permission before Yodi's allowed to take a nap. This just means Yodi is plain not allowed. :( Attachment 279369Attachment 279370 (How smart of her. She remembers there's a huge window on that side of the bag... so she's trying to peek in as she KNOWS Yodi's in there.)Attachment 279371 |
JapaDog Continued... 4 Attachment(s) Pichu just never gives up. We even have two elderly men come up to ask what might be inside that bag that's having our girl dig vigorously at it. She really knows how to pull in they sympathy.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Attachment 279374 Poor Yodi. She couldn't get much rest with Pichu attacking like that from the outside. We all gave up. Pichu wins again! Attachment 279375 Attachment 279376 "Hehehe... You all know who's your boss." *evil chuckle* Attachment 279377Alas, Yodi was forced to surface just in time! Her Fish Teri[yaki]Mayo[naise] with self-added wasabi mayo[naise] was ready! |
JapaDog Finale 1 Attachment(s) MmmMmmMm... Now this finishes off our sunny day outting... So... what's for dinner? ;) |
Build-A-Bear - Prologue to a dinner 4 Attachment(s) We met up with hubby since dinner time is rolling around. Hot dogs are junk food, so we needed a proper cool meal to fill our bellies in this stifling heat wave. That being said, Yodi simply could not attend dinner as she was. We had to get our guest clothed. So a trip to the mall was in order. Attachment 279381 This is Metrotown located in Burnaby, BC, a municipality just southeast of South Vancouver. Build-A-Bear resides inside this massive building. :) Here, our quest to find Yodi attire appropriate for her first night out with us as well as an extra piece for her day wear begins. |
Build-A-Bear continues 4 Attachment(s) Not meaning to insult our guest, we do understand she is not of the bear species. With this, Yodi's fitting was completed with wonderful results. :D |
Build-A-Bear exits. 2 Attachment(s) Attachment 279389I had overheard hubby threaten to toss Yodi into that mix there... I do not know what had gotten into him to have triggered such rude behaviour. Needless to say, I quickly paid up and hightailed out of the danger zone! |
The Dinner Chapter. 4 Attachment(s) So by now, it had gotten late although it seems recently daylight lasts quite a bit longer. Note dusk falling as we arrived and was showing the scenery off to Yodi. Attachment 279391 At the same time, we had to get her dressed for the occassion. You know how animals *pfft* aren't welcomed inside food establishments... well, we needed Yodi dressed especially for this purpose. She needed to enter the restaurant in stealth mode. What better way is there than to attend as *gasp* BATMAN. Attachment 279392 And as you can see, we had killed just enough time to sneak in under the cover of darkness.:thumbup::thumbup: We are smart! :teethysmi |

The Dinner Continues... 4 Attachment(s) Attachment 279395Attachment 279396 We had to explain to Yodi that this wasn't that kind of establishment. It was not for "casually naked diners". Yodi took the meaning way out the wrong way. As a matter of fact, it's an unspoken, but sometimes posted, rule that "no clothes, no shoes, no service". Yodi would do well to remember that. This is a 70's looking waterfront dining lounge with a beautiful waterside patio called "Nu". Attachment 279398Attachment 279397 |
