He's a cutie! I doubt he is a purebred yorkie, and he most certainly isn't a Silky Terrier. A Silky has a much sleeker body than a Yorkie. They are not as wide in the head, chest or haunches. To me he looks like he's 3/4 yorkie and possibly 1/4 wire haired terrier although he is too young to really tell yet. At 5 lbs now he is likely to be well over the standard 7 lbs when full grown. You said you bought him from a vet. Can you ask the vet to either see the parents or see copies of their registration papers? As long as you didn't pay for a purebred then no harm done really other than he may be bigger than you anticipated and his coat is may not be that of a yorkie when full grown. It will be interesting to hear what the new vet has to say as it is always difficult to make these judgements with only a photograph to go on.

| He looks like a Yorkie....As Villette was saying, I am the one with a Yorkie-Poo and he looks JUST like a Yorkie. Don't mind his hair. We are trying to grow out his face & top knot.

The only thing that is the most important is to love him and give him the best of this world . A dog will never be traumatize by the fact that is too small , too big , have a bad or wonderful coat , he will simply love you .

He does look like a yorkie. Except fo the long legs. I would have thought he was 100% yorkie. My mom has 2 yorkiepoos. One has the body of a yorkie the other is a little bigger. They are great dogs. Your's is adorable.

Yorkies can have long legs too . I would say he is a poorly bred Yorkie . I don't know how another vet will be able to tell you if he is a Yorkie or not . Mine have had DNA test .

Ok guys update time! So I took him to this great vet today, who first of all told me he did look like a Yorkie, and could probably just be either a big Yorkie, or a a Yorkie mixed with another terrier. He said the long legs weren't uncommon. The dandruff? Apparently he had ticks as a puppy and they gave the poor guy a treatment that made his skin too dry so he gave him a shot for that, and will send him some tablets. And after that, a special shampoo ![]() He said he looks perfectly healthy, and that we'll just have to wait a while to see if he stays this way or develops any other distinctive characteristics, but as far as he can tell, he's a Yorkie. He also did the ear taping thing some of you mentioned, and he was so calm while they were doing it! He's a little angel.

Glad to hear he is a sturdy healthy little guy. He just looks soooooo cute with his ear bandages. I'm sure he'd disagree with me completely. I've done a little research to see what he might be other than his predominent yorkie traits. His colour pattern and body shape best resemble that of an Australian Terrier (often mistaken for the yorkie when puppies). If he is part Australian then he may not grow a long coat like a yorkie. The texture of his coat in the photos resembles that of the Australian Terrier. Lucky you if he is as you'll save yourself a small fortune in grooming fees. I have three yorkies and I think my groomer jumps up and down with joy every time she sees me come in with them. Keep us posted with photos of your little angel. I can't get Nugget to sit still long enough to get a photo of her. She's a whirlwind when not asleep.
