We have just got back from a lovely week long summer holiday at Ohakune. My partner was playing with the settings on his whizzy digital SLR camera and got some cute pics of the yorkshire terrorists zooming in the sunshine. I thought you might appreciate the pics - and the hot summer sun might warm up those of you in the Northern Hemisphere.

I've also included the obligatory picture of me in front of the giant carrot. I'm not sure what it is about small town NZ but they can't resist an oversized statue of something the town is vaguely known for and calling themselves the "something" capital of the World!

Now I must get back to my frosty foamy beer and sun bathing.

Those pictures are great! Your furbabies are adorable. It's easy to tell that they were enjoying themselves!

I understand what you mean about small towns and their capitols...the town I grew up in is the "Barbed Wire Capital of the World!"

Thanks - I love those lolling tongues. They love going for walks in new places. Dougal's shattered - he hasn't moved from the couch since we got home - he doesn't like change, bless him.

I don't mind your jealousy for the sun shine. It's lubberly to be on holiday.

LOL barbed wire - is there a giant statue of barbed wire? We've got the Gumboot Capital of the World in Taihape too.

Yep, there sure is! We even have a whole museum dedicated to barbed wire! Let me see if I can find a picture...

That's oarsum. I thought this was a New Zealand phenomenon - but no. I think this deserves an anthropological study, LOL

Thanks the skuzzbutts love to explore new places -- well to be honest Dougal loves to pee on new places. You see him going along, cocking his leg, thinking "mine", "mine also", "mine", "sniff sniff MINE".

Thanks for the giggles. It's another beautiful day here in Wellington. (Just thought I'd rub that one in.

) Don't be jealous - I have to go work in an office on Monday and say farewell to the sunshine.
