| Introducing Cashmere! Hi, I've been lurking about, and finally decided to come out of hiding and formally introduce myself. I posted on another topic, so forgive me if this is repetitive. My name is Crystal, and I have a beatiful brazilian baby named Cashmere. She is such a joy! My first couple of weeks w/ her were kinda' scary however. She's been to the vet probably five times in the last 3 weeks The day after I got her, to honor the guarantee I took her to the vet. First the vet told me she didn't weigh a pound and was .80 (which turned out to be false as the breeder had previously told me whe weighed 1 lb 3 oz) He was very short with me, and I didn't like him. He then tried to give her vaccines, although it was too soon. He also applied revolution to her, which I also thought wasn't necessary, as the poor baby was kind of homesick. Got in my car drove 10 mins to my girlfriends house. She was holding Cashmere and it started looking like she was chewing on her tongue. I asked my friend why and that's when the convulsions started. Her legs were shaking, and her tongue and mouth was white. She also pee'd on my friend. I truly believe that shy was already hypo and then the medication acted as a "stressor" on her body. The vet was totally unaware of how to care for such a small Yorkie. The next day I took her to a new vet, we visited a whole hour, and he prescribed Hills a/d and putting sugar in her water, and just really helped me. She had one more attack and hasn't had one since 1/8/05 Yay!! She also had a cough, in which we tried clavamox and then Zithtromax which has cleared it up as her 10 day cycle ended today. The breeder (who is very far) felt so bad she offered to come and get her, and even refunded me via money order for 2 of her vet visits. She's been awesome. Today Cashmere weighs 1 1/2 lb and is such a good baby. Doesn't bark, not destructive (yet? ) and is a joy to be around. She has a wonderful temperment. Everyone loves her, and if I must say, she is SO cute She stays home by herself all day (I come home for lunch to feed her) She is in my hallway bath with her crate food, toys, music, and baby gate. Aside from her early health issues, has been very easy to care for. I asked this on another post, but she is 15 weeks Friday. I feed her 1/4 cup daily per the Royal Canin mini puppy recommendations on the side of the bag. Do you think that is enough? BTW, here's the pics ....

| Welcome, Crystal & Cashmere! What a cutie ... she looks about the same size as our Toto when we first brought her home! I miss that age ... she is 18 months now and such a prissy little lady! She only gets 1/4 cup total food per day and about 1 heaping tablespoon of the Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 dry food [she usually doesn't eat all the dry]. I allowed her to get overweight so now she is strictly on her dog food! Couldn't tell from the pics, but since Cashmere is from Brazil ... does she still have her tail? I know there are some countries that do not allow them to be docked. Yorkies are precious ... tail or no tail!! BTW our vet has us give Toto 2cc NutriCal per to make sure that she gets her vitamins, etc. since she is such a picky eater. We had to give it [I believe 1/2cc] three times a day when she was younger. We have only had one episode of a "sugar drop" since we have had her and it was brief. Hope you can find a vet that is knowledgable in the treatment of these little babies. We have all found that there are some out there who don't have a clue!

| Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Bettyeanne: Yes she has a tail, but it is extremely tiny I was wondering a/b it, b/c I've never seen a tail so short. Yes she is doing soooo much better! 1/4 cup? Okay good, its just that she woofs the food down so fast , I thought maybe she was still hungry!
