New here! Meet Teddy!! Hi all! I am new here, this is my 19 week old pup, Teddy! We actually have the same birthday!!! I was wondering about his coloring and his ears... I have been told that his color will change... when does that happen? Is his color right for a yorkie, and what do i put as far as his coloring for registration papers? And his ears will stand with trimming? LOL thanks!!

| Welcome. He's a cute one! If you want his ears to stand you have to shave them. He has a thick coat and lots of ear hair. I still have to keep my oldest girl's shaved, or the tips start to flop. You can find lots of info on getting his ears to stand up on YT!

He's a good looking boy. Six pounds at 19 weeks is pretty good size too! I think his coloring looks fairly typical for a Yorkie pup. I see a little bit of white on his chest that I'm not used to seeing but other than that, he looks like a typical Yorkie. I've never found that their color changes much around the face so much as it does around their back. Most typical Yorkies I've had or been around will start going silver around their back. You'll still be able to see the black through but it's like there's a thin layer of silverish white over the black. And, of course, the coat comes in much longer and thicker, depending on what type of cut you keep him in. I hope this helps a little. - Byron

I just have been worried about his coloring cause he seems darker than a lot of the yorkies I have seen, and much bigger! Thanks fr the GREAT welcome!!!

Size I can't help you with. For his age, he sounds huge. I'd bet he's going to be pretty big for a Yorkie. Standard weight for a Yorkie is 7 pounds or less. He's only 19 weeks and he's almost there already. Still, you love him anyway, right? Assuming you're not planning to show him, who cares if he's a little big. He's a beautiful pup. My little guys father was huge for a Yorkie; a little over 12 pounds. They were an unplanned, unexpected litter. Luckily they seem to be taking more after their mother but I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up being a tad bit over standard. I don't plan to show or breed them though and will be getting then neutered relatively soon so it won't matter. Check out my guys if you're concerned about the coloring. My guys are purebred and look like typical Yorkie pups and I don't see all that much difference between them and Teddy except for the fact that he's just a little bit older. - Byron http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...kson-bear.html
