| I have been in love with dogs all my life. I've never been without one. I always watched dog shows on TV and could easily identify many many different breeds. But when I was younger I kinda lumped all small dogs together thinking they were yappy, spoiled, and nippy. So, as a teenager, when I was first able to make a choice about a dog, I chose an Irish Setter. My boyfriend had two of them. We had seen some at a local dog show and were smitten! Well, I was really allergic to the Irish Setter, my sweet Shannon, and she shed so much but I still loved her. She was hit by a car one day and my heart was broken. After I got married, my hubby and I decided to get a house dog. Because of my allergies, I chose a Schnauzer. We had Schnauzers and various outside dogs for about 22 years. We still have our Woody, and he is 8 years old. A chocolate lab we got for our daughter didn't work out well for us at all and we had to give him away. We had a beagle mix but my daughter started to have allergic reactions to her and we had to give her away. Allergies are a big issue with us. Well, about 8 years ago, my mom got a maltese and he just blew away any preconceptions I had about toy dogs. He is the most amazing little guy and just loves the family! You can see his pic here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13895 Low and behold, even though he was very furry, I wasn't allergic to him!! What??? I thought I could only have wire haired dogs! So, my hunt was on for a toy dog. But Yorkies and Maltese were way out of my price range. Long story short, I found Bo through a newspaper ad (didn't research first, but it turned out OK), and the rest is history. I'll never own anything other than a yorkie or maltese for as long as I live!!! I've found my perfect pet!
