Thank you so much for your kind words. Baby is a very photogenic dog as her pictures seem to make her look much younger than she is. She is an older sweetheart and still doesn't seem comfortable on any of the cushy beds, pillows and blankets I have for her.

I've only had Baby now for eight hours but what a godsent she is already. I have been pulling my hair out with trying to get Tika properly using her pee pads. It has come to the point where I cannot let Tika out of my eyesight for even a moment because I know she'll pee somewhere other than her pee pad. When I'm not able to watch her like a hawk, she has to be in her kennel because she will completely destroy my home by messing everywhere if I don't.

Baby is very good about using the washroom outside and Tika is learning from Baby. I am going out of my way to praise Baby as much as possible and Tika is starting to emulate the behaviour because she is so jealous

I'm not sure where she came from and got her from a local rescue organization who couldn't find a home for her because she is so old. Out of the blue she will start barking out of control for no apparent reason. She'll just stare at me and bark over and over and over again about 20 times. She also looks like she has tears in her eyes when she does this. I'm wondering if she is weeping ... or if she's trying to tell me something. It has to be tough being rehomed at such an old age. I wish I could be in her head for a few minutes to learn more about where she come from.

She is a beautiful little lady! God bless you for opening your home and your heart to her! You both are very lucky to find each other!:D

thank you so much for giving Baby this wondeourful home. When reading your post and seeing Baby's beautiful pic with her little bed in it , I had tears in my eyes. What a loving and caring person you are, and how lucky Baby is to have found you. Hope all goes well as she settles into your loving home.

Poor girl...can you imagine being 70 years old and taken away from everything you've ever known..your home, family, friends, etc. and placed in a new environment where you know nothing or no one? I just can't imagine what all she has been through and how she must feel :( I'm so glad she has you now. I know you'll give her a great home. I'm sure it will take some time but eventually she will settle in and feel at home with you. And she'll know she's loved.

Has anyone else ever had an older dog walk up to them, look them in the eyes and start barking about 10 to 20 times over and over again?

When Baby does this I get out of my seat to find out if she wants me to follow her. She keeps looking me in the eye and barking over and over again.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Could they tell you anything about where she might have come from or just any info on her? I don't know about her barking but I would say that it's behavior from her past somehow. I can tell you that our little guy is an ex-mill dog and for whatever reason sometimes behavior will just kinda pop out that you don't really expect. Maybe too after she settles in with you and your family and begins to feel comfortable it may stop or at least lessen. Keep us posted.:animal-pa

Wonder what her response would be if you got down on your haunches, eye level, and gently talked to her while she is barking? Rescues come with so much baggage.:mad: Baby is so beautiful!:)
