| When does a yorkie start to bark Hi, Might sound like a silly question, but does anyone know at what age a yorkie starts barking, when he hears a noise or something, mine barks a little like a play bark when he's playing with my other dog, but apart from that he doesn't , which is great!! When will he start, or won't he? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Give him time - mine were quiet as babies - but now talk all the time - I think some are barkers and some are quiet but they DO talk - and enjoy the tiny baby bark while he's doing it - it's sooo cute ! |

| We had big dogs all my life and they wouldn't start barking til 6 months or so and they continued barking because people would laugh and think it was cute. However, when we got our yorkie at 7 weeks he already barked and he barks a lot. I think it's because his mommy and daddy barked so he learned from them. Plus he's super smart. :-)

| Gus was a quiet baby too. I remember the first time he did bark,,,,,, My husband was cleaning the garage and he came crawling in with a box on his head. When Gus seen him he got up and ran and hid behind me and started barking. And the closer Tim (my husband) got Gus eventuality attacked the box. From then on to this day,,,,, he is quite the little guard dog and will bark at any little sound.

| I love their play bark. But, it is only the beginning..LOL When you have several together, I think they start barking earlier because they learn it from the older ones. My little Jesse, would bark and I would say "Shhhh!, talk nice" and he would start with that sweet little growly sound. I miss him and that!! Skylar is my nanny and she barks often-she is tattling on the others. When the little chocs start to play hard, she has a fit. Snickers squeals like he is being killed and she cannot stand that. When she barks, they all lissen and then start adding their own.. |
