| Introducing Baxter! Hi everyone, We are new here, our first post. I have been lurking around reading the posts for about a week now. That is about how long I have had Baxter, my new little guy. Baxter is nine months old, I got him from a young couple that did not know the amount of time and energy it took to take care of a pup and put him up for adoption. It took one look for me to become smitten by him and bring him home. He is a bit timid, I think from his former people getting impatient with him, but he has the best temperament! He is laid back, sweet, calm and so loving! This little guy has wormed his way into everyone's heart that has met him! I also have another little one, named Izzy, she is a Maltese x Westie mix and the total opposite of Baxter. Izzy is hyper, fearless and not always gracious and loving to anyone she does not consider family. They are yin and yang, and so far seem to be taking a page out of each others book. Izzy has learned that STAYING STILL when you are in a lap is a good thing. Baxter is following Izzy into situations he would normally be TERRIFIED of. I only hope they continue to get along so well. At first I was worried about Baxter's coat being so thin. I already took him to the vet and he is healthy. After reading the posts I realize it may always be like that due to genetics. It won't make a difference in the way I feel about him, I would love him if he was bald. That out the way I would still love to hear any suggestions you guys out there for grooming and encouraging hair growth. I have been begun by putting a drop or two of olive oil in his food. I have not bathed him yet, so shampoo and conditioner recommendations are welcome. Baxter has a cottony coat, that is really easy to comb and does not seem to mat easily. Anywho, here is a pic of my new furbaby Baxter. |

| Hi there & welcome to Yorkie Talk! Baxter is a cutie!!!..... you said you were wondering about his coat.....maybe he needs a good change in his diet. What type of food do you feed him? Shelby & Seymour eat Nutro Ultra... it has Salmon Oil in it. They were on Royal Canin for awhile, but due to it's corn content we switched (Shelby was getting to be a little chubbo! ) You may want to look at the food that you are feeding. There are many threads on what people are using..... some good info!!

| Thanks for all the good wishes from everyone. I know this is going to be a great place to learn about how to take proper care of Baxter. As well as a great place to share some of the adventures we are bound to have in the future. Thanks for the change of diet suggestion, I was wondering about what would be the best food for him. Right now, I am feeding him what the prior family was feeding him, Eukanuba puppy food. I will look into introducing other food. The Nutro Ultra sounds good because of the Salmon Oil. That would take the place of the drops of olive oil I have been adding. |

| Welcome to YT!! There are several premium foods mentioned on YT. Try doing a search and see what pops up. There was a list somewhere, but I can't recall where...maybe someone else can post the link. Baxter is adorable and lucky to have found you!!!
