I don't know how long my post with the photobucket links will take to show up, so I'll attach pics now that I know how.

The first two pics are from several months ago, when her hair started to thin noticeably...note that her neck is bare!

The last pic is from last week right before she went back to the vet yet again. She is constantly oily from the Omega oils, but I can't bathe her more than once per week or she gets very dry skin. Her eye was running too, which is why I took the pic. That cleared up with the drops she got from the vet so her eyes are all cleared up now.

(grrr...it says one of the files is too large but I don't know which one it is, so one of the pics will be missing)

Little bug is adorable. What a heart warming story. Bug is lucky to have
you as her mommy. I had a terrier a couple years ago who was an eyesore.
He developed a skin condition around 7 and it continued to get worse
as he got older. When he died at 16 there was not a spot anyone on him
that you could pet. To me he was beautiful inside and out. He was a loving
pet. Good luck with your little bug.

I still think she is a gorgeous little angel even with thinning hair, she kinda reminds me of my hubby hehe.

I can't resist...I just have to show you all Ollie. I feel like a bad mom who introduces one of her children and ignores the other...lol...

This is a sequence of Ollie pics from day one until recently. The best we can estimate, he was about 3 days old in the first pic...that's my oldest daughter gently washing all the yuck off him after she picked him up that day. She said the woman offered to give her the nasty feed bucket full of straw that she was carrying him in...my daughter told her, "no thanks, I have a nice carrier and a warmer waiting for him in the car."

awww poor little thing it is a wonder he survived, your daughter obviously spent a lot of time feeding the little guy so he lived. He turned into one handsome kitty.

Last but not least...this is Ness (short for Nestle)...she is my westie girl. No trauma history here! She is happy and healthy. We planned for years to get a westie, and when we did, we got her from a good breeder who kept her with her mommy until she was 11 weeks old...she's all d.o.g. She and Ollie are play buddies which works out really well because they keep each other busy, and therefore, leave Bug alone! (don't worry, she's much happier in my lap than having them running around her like lunatics!)

I love this response! So true!! I haven't been dressing her lately because I'm afraid the clothes will rub what little hair she has off, but if it turns out that this is just how she's going to look from now on, I'll be outfitting her like a queen...couture all the way baby! I've already been eyeing the websites of a couple of YT'ers who make custom tiny clothes.

Welcome to you and your fur-crew:love: I think Bug is so pretty, and I sure hope that the vets can figure out what's going on with her so you can hopefully fix it:hands: Have they checked her thyroid function? I know it can cause malabsorbtion and hair loss in humans, but dont' know about doggies.:confused:

Well, I'm crying buckets...I think it's my new hobby these days. I just love how Bug looks. She's a sweet angel. I hope you stay and keep us updated on her and, of course, show her off wearing her beautiful outfits! :) I've already fallen in love with her. (hugs)

Yes, her thyroid has been checked about once a year since we took her in, and it always comes back well within normal limits. The only test that ever came back anything but perfect was one time when her BUN was like one digit high, but it was normal again on re-testing. Liver function is also fine. All of which is pretty amazing considering she was the product of careless and irresponsible breeding practices.

We did try her on cortizone about a year ago, but it didn't help her gain weight, and it made her incontinent. Poor girl would be sitting next to me, and suddenly lose control of her bladder...she looked mortified!

Since there were no benefits to outweigh the negative side-effects, I weaned her off of it.

We are very glad to have you and all of your furrbabies here on YT! Welcome! I think she is cute! Tina (my runt of a yorkie) loses her hair sometimes. Just recently she has scratched her head enough that she has a bald spot but long bangs and long hair everywhere else! Kind of like a Friar Tuck 'do. But we love her anyway!

Your little Bug is a beauty. It might be that most of her beauty is hidden deep inside a troubled little heart, but it is there. I am so very sorry that her hair loss is such a puzzle -- I know it must be frustrating.
