My Boy Bentley Hi everyone! I am new here and would like to introduce my baby Bentley. He is almost 7 months old and is my (and my husband's) pride and joy. I don't remember what life was like without him! So far Bentley has been a wonderful puppy. He loves to play with the other puppies at kindergarten and is also doing well with sit, down, and shake (he also loves to cuddle with his mom ). He hates being alone and loves to play with other puppies so we are thinking of getting him a brother in a few months (another yorkie of course as we love them so much). The pictures below are of him back in September at 16 months. I'll post more recent pictures as soon as I get them off the camera. I've enjoyed reading all of the posts so far and look forward to chatting with you all! Last edited by Bentley'sMom; 12-19-2004 at 09:46 PM.

Bentley weighed 3 pounds when we got him, but is now up to 4.5. The vet says he should get to 6 or 7 pounds when he is done growing. One funny thing Bentley does is when he is eating his food, he doesn't just stand there and eat, instead he grabs one piece, runs into another room and eats it, and then runs back to his dish to get another piece. It takes him forever to eat, but is very funny to watch. The cutest thing is seeing Bentley with my husband. He wasn't too excited about getting a puppy, but I went ahead and got one anyway because I wanted a yorkie so bad. Well, my husband has fallen in love with the guy. Every day when he comes home from work he walks in the door and yells "If there's a dog named Bentley in here, come and play". Bentley hears him and runs over as fast as he can and they play together and run around the house, it's very cute. I've also caught my husband holding Bentley and telling him how much he loves him, it just melts my heart. It helps that he loves him so much because he doesn't get too mad about all of the money I spend on Bentley at the pet stores every week!

Cecilia does the same thing with her food. She just carries it several feet away and eats it and then goes back for more. I wonder why they do it. Quirky little nuts.

Adorable little guy! Yup, Yoda takes a piece sometimes and runs around with it. Does Bentley go to eat his food on carpet? Yoda loves to eat laying down on carpet (we put his food on a tile floor).

Welcome to YorkieTalk! Bentley is adorable! My husband is a notorious "dog hater", as people here know. When we married in 1999 (we were both widowed and found each other on Match.com), I came with Pogo, my now 13 year old Doodle. Last winter I wanted a new puppy for Pogo to train before he got tooooo old, and FINALLY convinced Don to let me have one. Well, that dog hater is totally in love with Higgins, our 1 year old Yorkie. Not long ago, Don got tears in his eyes as he cuddled Higgins and said to me "Thank you so much for bringing this little guy into my life! He means the world to me...." Big dog haters fall hard........LOL

Fasteddie - yes, Bentley always has to run over to the carpet to eat his food (his dish is also on tile in the kitchen). At home, the carpet is only a couple feet away, but here at my parents the carpet is about 20 feet away and he runs the whole way with one piece of food, eats it, then runs all the way back, it's quite the workout. Higgin's Dad (or mom I presume) - That is such a cute story! There is nothing better than watching a man love a little yorkie. When I decided that we should get Bentley a brother sometime soon I was prepared to have an argument with my husband about it, but when I mentioned it he said "sounds good to me". I couldn't believe it, he's caught the yorkie bug!

I think it takes guys just a little bit of time to warm up to Yorkies. At first, I was just, 'oh, he's cute, he's there', but when he finally grew up a bit and he realized who I was, well, then we had a special bond after that. But I think the bond happened after I started letting him lick me senseless whenever he wants. :P
