I hope you are feeling okay after making this video, it must have been very difficult to put together - but the positive ripple effect it will have on humans and animals will hopefully buffer some of the after effects from putting it together.

It's so sad and heartbreaking! As long as I live I will never understand how people can live with themselves treating animals this way. I just don't get it.
Laws need to be changed, this needs to be stopped. People need to stop buying from puppymills, byb, etc...

Great point, too many people think that if it's an AKC dog, they are safe. The AKC has dropped many puppy mill kennels, and some of them are going to alternative registries that don't require any inspections, but the AKC still has plenty of puppy mill breeders. Unfortunately, the AKC cannot require higher standards than what state/federal law requires. We must remember that the AKC is primary a registry, and addresses bloodlines not kennel conditions, as long as they are within federal and state laws. I encourage everyone who supports an AKC breeder to register their dog with the AKC. Pet owners, not just breeders, should register, when more pet owners than breeders are registering their dogs, pet owners will have a much bigger say in AKC policy.

My point is that AKC endorses commercial breeding facilities for the income. I do not know and maybe you can provide to me where AKC has dropped puppy mill kennels? As long as AKC is involved with the Hunt Corporation they are part of the problem.

Funny how so many of us have created a chain, red98vette knowledge on puppy mills first informed me of the horrors going on. For some reason, because of all the "busts" I thought the situation was well under control. A member posted a link the other day with a site that showed these pictures:

However, Ladymom, noticed that the breeders were listed on the Prisoners of Greed website, and Reese1 noticed that the breeder in question had the same last nane and lived on the same street as the kennel listed by the Best Friends Network, who had posted a video of that mill.

So we are picturing one thing in our heads, when an entirely different thing is going on in reality. The breeders, in this case, may even take perspective buyers on a "tour". I'm pretty sure they won't see the actual kennel, it's a few houses down. As Reese1 pointed out, we can't be sure these people are in business together, but they do share a same last name, and live on the same street.

AKC's income is not dependent on Hunt Corporation (whole seller). And I'm not defending Hunt by all means. While registration of dogs do contribute somewhat to their income, dog shows are a bigger contributer.

But, that is not the point. What is being addressed is that if pet owners do register their, pet owners numbers would grow, therefore having an ability to have a voice in the direction AKC takes.

While AKC is not perfect, it is still the most desirable in upholding the purebred dog. Where others such APRI, UKC, CKC requirements have no where near the standards.

When you post the pics such as the first 2. It's amazing how many puppy buyers fall for that type of atmosphere. A front such as this usually, but not always is another selling ploy......Oh! how cute....they're treated just like babies....that isn't what makes a reputable breeder, it's their breeding practices, the tract record, how they respond to a bad situation, how they support their puppies and their clients.
