so very sad to see what people are prepared to do to animals, just to make money. |
I only made it halfway too. It just makes me so angry! Sometimes I think these vids are great, and sometimes I think they're wasted on the wrong people. Most of us that responded to this post are well aware of what is going on, and the ones that really need to see it, well.... they're too closed off to even take a moment to get past the intro. I hope when someone googles "purchasing first puppy" or whatever, they get a link to this thread. It really is an eye opener. Nancy, I think this post was great. I'm not trying to take anything away from your post, because it's great. Perfect song selection too. It really is what about them, too. So a person buys and rescues that one pup. What about the ones that are stuck producing more and more!:mad::mad::mad: |
What a great post Nancy! It's so hard to watch, but it's so important to be educated. I got Rory from what I realized was a puppy broker (probably the lowest of the low) after joining YT and finally educating myself. :( I was so sick to my stomach for days thinking what her mom's life was probably like. I just knew my next dog had to be a puppymill rescue, which is exactly what Lane is. We are very lucky that Lane has come out of her shell in many ways, but there are still plenty of times that you can see her past has had a lasting impact on her. Unfortunately, the guy I got Rory from appears to now sell maltese too. On a lighter note, I'm happy to report that pet store down the street from us is going out of business!!! :D We only recently moved here, but I was very tempted to stand out front with Lane and her before pictures of her previous home, err rabbit cage filled with feces. |
Uhm........sad! |

Yeah, I know what you mean, I think most regular members are fully aware of puppy mills, but I still think we all could do more to discourage people from buying dogs online. I think people don't want to be seen as rude so they don't speak up, and personally it's wearing to be called rude over and over, no matter how well you feel like you have worded the post. I think we need to tell people to visit the breeder's home in person, and we all need to stand firm in this. Even good breeders, who start off with the best intentions, may be tempted to take short cuts, if they are selling too many dogs too easily online. |
I had to force myself to watch the entire video, it is so overwhelmingly heartbreaking and I feel my blood boil with anger for the people that allow this to happen to poor defenseless animals just to make a buck. I'm posting to Facebook too. |

A big thank you to 4doggiemama as well, I love what you are doing to help educate newbies, Yorkietalk has a million great threads, but locating them takes so much time. Linking them can save them lots of time and heartache, if they read the threads! :) |
This is what I posted, along with your video on FB (I tried to make it simple and to the point ;) for the 'average joe' out there in FB land - hahahahaha) PLEASE do not buy from Petstore OR Online OR from Backyard or USDA Breeders...Watch this video to get a better understanding of the Moms and Dads of those cute little pups that are left to Suffer beyond Words. PLEASE stop putting more money into the Evil People who operate puppymills... For every pup that you buy from the Petstore, just know that 2 more pups will take it's place, meaning more Moms and Dads are forced to produce more...ALL in the name of the mighty dollar... There are literaly MILLIONS of purebreed dogs in Shelter and Rescues, PLEASE adopt: Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder If you are not part of the Solution, than you are part of the Problem... |

The millers to me are the lowlifes and there's AUCTIONS too that I cannot believe happen in the dog world. It's sickening - there's alot of info and vid on the net about them - many try to go in and rescue dogs but in a way they're only lining pockets to continue the cycle though I really can understand the total disgust and feeling of wanting to save these poor dogs the list is endless of what goes in in the pet industry - many just see those cute puppies without a thought into HOW that puppy entered the world.....then you have the BYB's leaving dogs in cages - outside - cages etc and it's like banging our head against the wall because SO many never give it a thought. Charlize Theron did one of the best - it was on Dateline - warning THIS is graphic too !!!! |

You have to go to Nancy's video on You Tube. Under the video there is a link or share botton, and you can select FB. Then a pop up will promt you to sign into your FB account, do that, and then there will be box to write what you want, and it will link the video too :) |
It is terribly heart wrenching what is going on and what these little creatures are going through. It is my belief not tell people where get their puppies from. But, to educate them in how to go about obtaining their dogs; whether it be from Reputable Breeders, shelter, and/or rescues. I truely believe the purpose of Nancy's thread is to invoke thought when people frequent and obtain puppies from BYBers, classified, internet, etc. I know that it is difficult to walk away from that cute little face and your thought is I'm rescuing this dog. But, when one does this, what about the pups that will take their place and the ones that are left behind. So an attempt is being made here to support those better breeders/rescues/shelters in effort to put these horrible people out of bussiness by not continuing to go there and spreading the word |

there are so many people here that point others in the right direction but seeing actual evidence of what these dogs go thru is such a tool in education - hard to watch - but still - if no one looks they'll never understand. way to go Nancy ! |
I hope many of you understand some of these mills are AKC registered dogs. AKC is part of the problem with their endorsement of commerical breeding facilities. |
