| tips on studding I have an 8 month old purebred, black and tan, CKC Registered Yorkie that I am interested in studding out. I've never done anything like this before and could use any advice that anyone is willing to give. Thanks! |

| I believe he should be AKC registered. He needs to be within standards and be health screened for things like liver shunt, LP..... |

Are you looking to advertise? Just a word of caution YT doesn't allow it. Are you looking for preliminary steps? There are many? Give us an idea what you're looking for. You may not like everything you hear, but at times that is the only way to learn.

| Stud I think that you charge "pick of the litter" and you can specify male or female. In dollars, a little less than what a puppy would sell for. The owner of the female is going to require some health tests on your fella and will usually pay only for a "proven" stud or when they have verified healthy puppies. I think there are more people looking for an AKC registered sire. "Proven" would be one who has sired healthy puppies before. Hope this helps.

Most stud owners "Premate" test the bitch, which adds to our cost of providing the stud service, but it pretty much guarantees a litter of pups. The stud fee also covers the cost of boarding and feeding the bitch, and travel to and from the airport." The male should be "cleaned out" and checked 2 weeks before the bitch arrives for mating. Old semen and seminal fluid should be removed, by collection (either you or your vet) and a sperm check done, so that the bitch receives only good fresh
