| Need a dog park w/small dog area in NoVa Hello - I am new to the site and delighted to have found you. My name is Rita and we have wonderful sweet little girl named Boo-Bear (14 wks old 3.5 lbs). Boo has been a wonderful addition to our home wour kitties and just loves to romp in grass. She is very happy and has been very social with people and other poochies. Any recommendations for parks w/designated small dog area? We live in Fairfax and would love to meet others nearby to play and share kisses. PUPPY PRAYERS please -- Poor Boo is in the ER as we speak :-) (she swallowed a pill that dropped - and the gel cap needs to be passed). We decide to err on side of caution and she is being kept for observation & IV fluids. We are very, very careful, and only knew this because of broken pieces in her pen area. Still not sure where it came from 'cause we didn't recognize it?? I nearly lost my mind!! Please send "puppy prayers" up for her. The docs just called and she got a littel blockage but they think she will be fine and worst is over. As soon as she is herself again we want to play! |

| Eventhough some dog parks have a designated small dog area, your dog is just too small. This can end up being quite dangerous, and traumatic for her. Your best bet is to find a meetup group from meetup.com that specifies in smaller toy breeds for socialization.

| Thanks! Actually is at instruction of the vet to locate a palce w/area for small dogs? IF i took her there I'd keep her on leash at least until i saw what it was. I am quite content to wait. She has played well w/others (taking walks) in our neighborhood (7lbs). I saw large local meetup groups, they look wonderful here in Fairfax. After todays trip to ER I'd just as soon not have anymore trauma! thanks again for your thoughtful reply. |

| There are two small dog parks in your area. The Reston Dog park off of Barron Cameron and the Quinn Farm Dog park 15150 Old Lee Rd Chantilly, VA 20151 I usually go to the Quinn one. |

| Good to know - thanks Agreed -- like i said -- after recent ER visit LAST thing we need is any added trauma -- She likes short walks in the neighborhood and has learned "sidewalk" and she has her own outdoor short grass area in front of house we keep clean of debris. She has been real funny lately trying to play with our 1 yr old kitten who, it seems, are on the brink of being fast buddies. She's such a sweet baby. I am quite content to wait and we can make play dates instead. Last edited by RitaNBoobear; 06-01-2009 at 04:10 AM. |

| Yorkie Meet-up There is a yorkie meet up at Quinn Farm Dog park 15150 Old Lee Rd Chantilly, VA 20151 on sunday July 5th at 11 am as long as it is not too hot or raining. Only trouble with this park is that it is gravel instead of grass and minimal trees. |

| I don't think she's too small. I saw dogs about that size at our local dog park and she's still a puppy so she's definitely got growing to do! Maybe wait until she's 4 or 5 pounds? I mean... that's the standard size for a Yorkie, so what are you just not supposed to take them around other dogs? I say go for it! As long as she's got all of her shots. Don't take her to a dog park w/o her rabies shot, just in case...
