| Not a yorkie, but I know yoy guys will understand After i got back from my last visit home a few months ago I wrote this "My mom and dad have two german shepherds (i grew up with them). The older one (the mom) is just shy of 9. My parents told me she was getting really old and may have to be put down soon. I didn't realize how bad and old she was. She has good to fair hips, but has been suffering for over a year. Pretty much the vet said there is not options. I saw my mom had throw rugs all over and realized why (they have wood floors), Lucie (the dog) slips all over the place and pretty much drags her back two feet. She even walks on the top of her paw or get the two back legs tangled up and cant move or falls over. You have to help her down the step to go outside and go potty or she will fall. I was just in shock and disbelief, mom pretty much informed us they waited to put her down so we could see her one last time. IT's been pretty hard to deal with it, I always thought it would get easier as I got older. But my/my parents dog was put to sleep on Monday September 17, it was just too terribly hard to watch her in that much pain. I cried everyday that last time I was home. My mom said the last couple days they just brought her food to her bed she was so tired and sore. So rest in heaven our little Lucie, give kisses to your hubby Rommel and big brothers Mick and Gretel. Ok just writing that made me cry, its gonna be rough when I go home at Christmas time. So please send your thoughts and prayers to my family (which includes a 13 yr old girl who will be very upset).

I still remember my family dog that died over 30 yrs ago. It is so nice that your family had Lucie for as long as they did and I'm sure she was one lucky girl. RIP Lucie

| OH, I so feel for your family. Bless you through this terrible time... my family lost our 15 year old Boston Terrier a couple months ago... it was hard but we knew it was best for my TBone to rest.... he still watches over us, from the mantle over the fireplace and is a wonderful memory to my family... d

| Your parent's dog was beautiful. I always called the German Shepard the gentle giant because they are so large and so gentle. I have to admit they are my favoite breed. I am so sorry for their loss and yours as well. I know what it is to lose a pet. I am sure your left with many wonderful memories of the two of you growing up together. |

| It's so hard to make that decision. The last time i had to make that decision was with my husbands lab/golden mix. He was 13 and is kidney's ended up failing him, he stopped eating, we had to carry up and down the stairs and he ended up drinking so much water so fast he inhaled it into his lungs and had pneumonia. We all cried for days and I still cry when I sit and think about him and that was two years ago june. It's so difficult but it does get easier.

| I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a loved one. Fur or no fur. Keep your chin up, things will get better and you will see her again someday. She was very beautiful.
