Not a yorkie, but I know yoy guys will understand After i got back from my last visit home a few months ago I wrote this
"My mom and dad have two german shepherds (i grew up with them). The older one (the mom) is just shy of 9. My parents told me she was getting really old and may have to be put down soon. I didn't realize how bad and old she was. She has good to fair hips, but has been suffering for over a year. Pretty much the vet said there is not options. I saw my mom had throw rugs all over and realized why (they have wood floors), Lucie (the dog) slips all over the place and pretty much drags her back two feet. She even walks on the top of her paw or get the two back legs tangled up and cant move or falls over. You have to help her down the step to go outside and go potty or she will fall. I was just in shock and disbelief, mom pretty much informed us they waited to put her down so we could see her one last time.
IT's been pretty hard to deal with it, I always thought it would get easier as I got older. But my/my parents dog was put to sleep on Monday September 17, it was just too terribly hard to watch her in that much pain. I cried everyday that last time I was home. My mom said the last couple days they just brought her food to her bed she was so tired and sore.
So rest in heaven our little Lucie, give kisses to your hubby Rommel and big brothers Mick and Gretel.
Ok just writing that made me cry, its gonna be rough when I go home at Christmas time. So please send your thoughts and prayers to my family (which includes a 13 yr old girl who will be very upset).
