| To Cocoa 1982-2007 Hi, I have just joined Yorkie.com. This is in memory of our beloved Cocoa. This last Feb. 2007 Cocoa was put down. It was the hardest thing we ever done. Cocoa had lost his hearing and eyesight about a year or so and started to be so fearful of things around him, he would bite and snap at anything. He would wander around the house like he was lost and to the point he could'nt find the door to go out. Again more problems with having to put a diaper on as finally he started to lose control. Although I could hold and cuddle him once I could pick him up without him biting me, we finally decided his quality of life was not good anymore, so, Cocoa was 15 1/2 years old when he was put down. He is buried in our front yard with his own cement firehydrant that was his from day 1, a tombstone that reads, "In life you always followed me, In death you watch over me, My friend, you will always be with me." Also, a little cement squirrel stands there too. We got Cocoa when he was 6 yrs old. He had been abused and was a biter. If we had not taken him, he would have been destroyed. We learned how to play with him and he was such a joy to us. Followed us everywhere. he traveled to many states with us. I will never find another Yorkie like him. It has been 6 months and I still have tears writing this. So this is for you "Cocoa" MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. |

| Welcome to YT and Thank You for posting Cocoa's story with us. You brought tears to my eyes, b/c I could tell how much you love this little fella. I know your heart still hurts, and in time you'll heal, but what an awesome family you are for taking him in and caring for him and giving him the BEST possible life. I am sure he was so happy to be with you and I am sure that he loves you so very much and is very thankful to you. |

| I'm Sorry. Cocoa. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to do. We lost our Newman this past Friday. Like you, we had to put him down. He had a tumor in his foot pad and was operated on in March. They gave him about a year, before the cancer returned, but four months after the surgery it returned. We went through pre-testing to see if it spread as we were going to have his leg amputated in hopes of curing him. The ultra-sound showed that his liver was enlarged and a mass was found in the liver. We brought him Friday morning and said good-bye. He would have been 10 in December and he was our first Yorkie. Part of me wishes that I brought him home with us to burry, but it was just so hard. We opted for an individual cremation and his ashes will be returned to us (I hope very soon). I think when we finally have him home again, I'll find some peace with all of this. Again, I'm sorry for you. It's such a tough tough thing to do. I hope peace can be found for everyone that goes through this. Sincerely, Elaine |

| Im so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful 'new' life you gave Cocoa though. He had a long happy life with you and your family! You are a kind person. RIP little Cocoa.

| So sorry for your loss of Cocoa. He was very lucky to have found you and to have had your love for the remaining years of his life. It sounds like you were lucky to have found him, too. I know it hurts.

| Welcome to YT and thank you for sharing your beautiful story with all of us. I see you are in Newport, I live in Seattle (near Shilshole Bay). Would you be willing to share a picture of his gravesite because the fire hydrant sounds just precious? 15 1/2 yo. is amazing in dog years, and helping him cross the Rainbow Bridge was so loving. I also have a rescue pup named Charlie who is 10. He was adopted after my sweet Sophie died at 13. Your story is a true testament that every animal deserves to be loved. Warmly, Deborah

| Memory of Cocoa I want to thank everyone who replied to my Memory of Cocoa. You all make me feel so much better knowing there are yorkie owners who know what I've felt and went through. We all have to go through it sometime and its great you all are there to help when one of our furbabies cross over to the Rainbow Bridge. They do become like our kids and it is heartbreaking to lose them. I've got a 3 yr. old Yorkie, Sukielu, whose sweet as sugar and I am looking for another Yorkie, just got to have another one. Thanks for making me feel welcome. Here is a picture of Cocoa's grave with headstone, firehydrant and squirrel. Its right in the front yard where we can talk to him everyday. Carol and Sukielu |
