| Appropriate gift? I'm a professional pet-sitter/dog walker and my favorite client passed away His name was Koh-fee and he was a sweet Akita suffering from a tumor on his heart and mild arthritis in his back legs... When I received the news today I was in shock & tears. He passed on Monday and I had JUST walked him that same day. He was so excited to walk & didn't want to stop (we took the shorter route because it was hot)... I would have never guessed his time would come so soon. Anyway, Koh-fee and his mom/owner were very dear to me in so many ways. I cannot imagine the pain she is going through as he was her sweet baby boy. My immediate thought was to have flowers sent to her, but I want to give her something to plant in her garden to grow in memory of Koh-fee... any ideas? Would both be too much? Also, is there any other gift that is generally given concerning the loss of a pet? Thanks in advance.

| Oh, Mandy, I am so terribly sorry! When my granddaughter's sweet old cat was killed by a pitbull, she was so devistated. At 17 she had Spooky for as long as she could remember and had not experienced the death of anything or anybody that was close to her. I ordered a beautiful "Garden Stone" with a cat and a beautiful poem engraved on it. It has a little brass plaque engraved with the name/birth/death dates on it. My son placed it over Spooky's grave which is under my Mother's pink dogwood tree and it's just the perfect place for it. As the pain eventually lessens, she always wants to remember her "first pet" and this is a beautiful reminder. Please let Koh-fee's owner know how sorry I am. God bless and comfort all of you who grieve for this wonderful pet.

| I will say that when Sophie died, cards were sent to me from several people and I held those so very close to my heart. Reach out, talk to your client and then you will be able to make a decision. When my daughter's Carin Terrier died (she adopted from ASPCA in New York), I sent in a donation in Daisy's name. Some people think "oh, it was just a dog" but you know it is more than that... Warmly, Deborah

| sorry! Sorry that good boy had to pass! Akitas are so beautiful! Well I think a nice card expressing your thoughts about how wonderful you thought he was would be best! Take care! I wish we didn't have to lose lovely dogs!

| I would give a dogwood tree if you live in an area where they do well. I dearly love that tree, but I don't think it does well in CA. Your a kind person to do this. Prayers will be sent out to you and Koh-Fees mom. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm sorry for the loss.... and I agree with Bettyeanne - a garden stone is a wonderful tribute to a lost loved one...I have a really nice site you can look at if you're interested...These people just did Connies Mom's Memorial and did a fantastic job http://www.rockitcreations.com/index.html |

| ty Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and kind thoughts! The owner of my company had specially made pet memorial candles and gave me one to pass on to the client, on behalf of the business. I also gave her an Iris from my garden to plant over his resting place. I'll be looking into the garden stones as well, that's an amazing gift that I never even knew of. Thanks again!
