Rainbow Appropriate gift?

I'm a professional pet-sitter/dog walker and my favorite client passed away His name was Koh-fee and he was a sweet Akita suffering from a tumor on his heart and mild arthritis in his back legs... When I received the news today I was in shock & tears. He passed on Monday and I had JUST walked him that same day. He was so excited to walk & didn't want to stop (we took the shorter route because it was hot)... I would have never guessed his time would come so soon.

Anyway, Koh-fee and his mom/owner were very dear to me in so many ways. I cannot imagine the pain she is going through as he was her sweet baby boy. My immediate thought was to have flowers sent to her, but I want to give her something to plant in her garden to grow in memory of Koh-fee... any ideas? Would both be too much? Also, is there any other gift that is generally given concerning the loss of a pet?

Thanks in advance.
