I lost my precious Chester over a year ago the exact same way. I left him alone one minute too long in my friend's backyard and he fell in the pool. I had five wonderful years with him and he was 17 when I lost him. The guilt will subside, but you will miss your baby forever. God bless you and don't beat yourself up too much. Obviously, God needed a new lap warmer.

I agree 100% with JeanieK. Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes, we can't comprehend what those reasons could possibly be, so we must try to make the best of the situation. You were the best Mommy Asti could have had and she must have loved you very much to give her life to possibly save a grandchild. So now, you must cherish all the years of love you and Asti shared and try to think of her with a smile, not a tear. She was a very lucky little girl. God Bless you and take care of you while you go thru these sad times.

On more than one occasion I have accidentally held the front door open too long and Daisy ran out into the street. We live on a pretty busy street and she could have easily been hit by a car each time she got out. I know that I am extremely lucky to have her alive. Once on vacation she got out the motel door. We were SO lucky that we caught her. These accident have changed the way I live my life having small dogs. I mostly use the back door to come & go because if she runs out she will be in an enclosed yard. On vacation I will not remove a leash from her until we are tucked in for the night. I'm sure that many people here have their own stories. Please do not feel guilt over this, it was an accident.

Doodle is soooooo right! Many many of us are just plain lucky to have our babies with us still! Its very difficult to have all eyes and ears on everything going on in your life at the same time! I lost my precious stuart because I did not see him eating rat poison. I don't have that in my house, but he got it somewhere. I spent so much time blaming myself, but time helps to ease the guilt you feel. Also you just need to accept it was a total accident, it was not your grandchild, and you are a GREAT mother, grandmother and furbaby mamma! In time you will remember the love you gave Asti and how well you did take care of her for so long and you will let the guilt go! I know time seems to go by so slowly, but one really great thing about time is that it heals us!

Prayers that the Lord will lift the sadness from your heart and help you to start healing from this tragedy. It is my belief and faith that Asti is in the Lord's loving care and reaping all the fun times with all our precious ones there with him.
