My Reggie is Gone
 

Eight days ago Reggie gave birth to 5 girls and 1 boy. We lost the little boy yesterday. This morning we lost Reggie. I rushed her to the vet, he got an IV in her but within 15 minutes she was gone. We will be keeping one of her little girls. I don't have much time to grieve as I now have to take over motherly duties. I've already feed the girls once with the bottle and they took it fine. At least they are all nice and healthy. I will do what ever I have to do to make sure her little girls grow up.

Reggie was our first yorkie. We got her from our friends in FL, Richard and Gail. That's how she got her name...R & G, Reggie. She was the first born in a litter of 4. Her sisters Megan and Miram grew to 4 and 4.5 pounds, her little brother, Boomer was a whopping 2.5 pounds. Reggie didn't realize she was supposed to stay small. She just kept growing to over 8 pounds. We had a ChowChow and my husband was worried about how he would treat her. I said, he will either love her or eat her! Sure enough, he loved her.

She was the best mommy there could be. When she was in heat in January, I said this would be her last litter as she is 7 and was getting a little on the cranky side. Little did I know that not only would this be her last litter, that she would be gone forever.

Reggie was so smart and expressive, you would have sworn that there was a person trapped inside her body. She had to be near me or on me all the time. When she had her first litter, I was on the computer and she was sitting at my feet. Sure enough, she gave birth to her first born, Sassy, right there on my foot. She traveled with us quite often when she was young. If I had to leave her, she wouldn't eat and would sit at the door and cry until I got back. She was a great mouser, much better than any cat we ever had. She loved to be brushed and would lay on my lap 24/7 if that was possible. She smiled when you rubbed her belly. As she got older, like me, she would sleep with her mouth open.........God, please take good care of my girl. I know you have plans for her or you wouldn't have taken her from me already.

Reggie, my love, my life, you will be in our hearts forever. Give my mom a big kiss for me. Goodbye by baby. I will be with you again someday. :lovewings

oh goodness I am so sorry..

I am so sorry about this. I wonder what happened to cause you to loose your girl like this. I am so sorry. Hopefully her little girls will help you keep your mind off of her.

I'm so sorry, it is so sad. You have a little comfort having her babies, and I think you should keep a girl too.
Do they have any idea what happened?

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Reggie . She is now with the little girl that I lost recently . I am sure they'll be good friends .

Thank you all for the moral support. I just spoke with Gail, our best friend in FL. She is just as devastated as I am. The vet said without doing testing, his best guess was that she had a severe uterine infection and even if I would have got her there yesterday, it may not have changed the outcome. We were scheduled for appointment yesterday to dock puppies tails and was taking Reggie because she just wasn't up to par, but I had to change it because I did a coworker a favor and worked her shift because she had to go to court with her delinquent daughter. I'm not going to play the what if game, I can't, I have 5 little girls that need me more than ever. That is what is keeping me sane right now, concentrating on seeing them grow up. There is no question, we will be keeping one of the little girls. Got to go, eyes are too watery to see and nose is running. Bless you all. :lovewings

I am truly sorry for your loss. I am sure the Lord does have plans for her. Maybe she is up there right now playing with my little ones. She could be there mommy in heaven until I get there.
If I lived closer I would come help you tend to your new babies.

So sorry for your loss.... My Pebbles is due in two weeks (she is huge) ... you never know the outcome of any birthing experience. My prayers go out to you and your family.

sweet little reggie. i am very sorry for the loss of your little girl. it is amazing however that you have other babies to take care of and one of them, i\'m sure, will be wonderful as well. we all know you cannot replace reggie but she does live in each one of those little girls. you take care

I am so sorry for your loss of Reggie. It\'s very hard not to do the I should\'ve, would\'ve, could\'ve and wished I had, I completely understand. But that being said there is simply nothing you could have done differently it was meant to be. Perhaps God knew that it would be best to take Reggie now while you\'re mind is occupied with tiny babies. Take care and again I am so very sorry.
