I can't blame you for being angry. It's natural, you will go through all of the emotions and everyone is different in how long it takes place. You take all the time you need to. I always get really angry first, and then I cry my eyes out. Whenever I am sad I try my best to focus on all of the positive things in my life. It sounds like the most wonderful thing is the gift Maddie gave you when she passed. She gave you a true gift of love that few people get when a beloved pet passes. She gave you a piece of her that will live on. Cherish that little one, I wish you all of the luck in the world every day with her. I would be so thankful that you have her, she is truly precious, Maddie's little gift to you as she passed on to rainbow bridge she sent her to keep you and Monkey company.
I would understand it maybe if the vet thought you had experience before and then sent her home. But I don't understand why the vet didn't keep you there since she was already at the his office. It can't be good to be transporting her back and forth when she's in labor. So basically she never woke up after the general? I would be asking A LOT of questions.
I know that all of this will never get poor Maddie back. But this is your vet, who you trust your animal's lives with. I have heard some bad stories about vets, including one where paperwork was mixed up on 2 different dogs where one was put down when it was supposed to be spaded, I really hope that no negligence was involved with Maddie on the vet's part.
Please keep us updated everyday on how her little one is doing! Also let us know what you decide to name her!

I would be very slow with introducing the new puppy to Monkey. He just doesn't understand. To him his mate Maddie left and a new little puppy came home. That is a big change for him. Make sure all visits with daddy are supervised

Bless your heart for being so strong, Heather! There aren't any words that can relieve your pain at this point, but I am TRULY sorry for your loss! I can't even imagine going through something so devastating!

I'm sure Maddie is very proud of how you're taking care of her baby! I would like to extend a big hug to you and the new little one, and my prayers are with you, as well as Monkey, too....poor little guy!!

Yes...I agree. He was just barking and growling (talking). I didn't force him. I just didn't know what else to do. I've never seen him react the way he did with the little girl. He smelled her and almost jumped a mile high to get away. He keeps growling and sleeping in Maddie's blankets and where she would rest. Most of all, he sits by the front door with his nose to the bottom left corner. He fell asleep there earlier. I just try to give him as much attention as I can right now. I'm afraid it won't be much for the next several weeks to come. I will keep the box on the table until she gets more active. I think I'll figure out what to do afterwards when the time comes. I will definitely make sure that the visits are supervised for a while. I've never seen him so pissed off and confused. I just want to hug him, but he won't have any of that. I really hope this gets better.

oh heather im so sorry to hear of the loss of maddie i no how much you loved her.
it saddend me to here monkey was sitting in her basket looking for maddie, you are one strong woman and that pup will give you so much love and help heal the pain of lossing your baby girl
