I am so sorry to hear about Jasper! I admire your strength and courage as you are going through the grieving process. I so agree with you that the joy they bring far outweighs the heartbreak you have when they are gone. We have such fond memories of Buster and we talk about him all of the time- he is one of those dogs who will forever leave a pawprint on our hearts. Oliver has had a very tough act to follow.
Although Oliver is still very submissive and shy, he has become much more comfortable around us. He initiates play- even though his play sessions are short- and does this cute little thing with his paws (he pops them up off of the floor while his "elbows" stay on the floor) when he is in a play bow. He gets very excited when I leave and come back- so much so that he whimpers with joy. He cocks his head to the side when I say a word that he recognizes or when he hears a strange noise. He follows me everywhere just like Buster did. I love hearing the clickety-clack of little paws behind me once again. He also loves to cuddle- not quite in the same way as Buster did (Buster liked my shoulders and wrapped himself around my neck like a scarf), but he is always in my lap.
Dawn, please let us know when you do get another pup- they really do help the healing process. And thanks so much to everyone for the encouragement- you have really helped me to get through this horrible time. I don't know what I would have done without you!
