| ![]() I have been thinking about you and Karma a lot. I read this Kahil Gibran's quote today, and I was reminded of how loved Karma will always be. “When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” I wish I could ease your heart, but please know how much I care and understand. |

| ![]() I'm not surprised you have his books in your library. They are very deep, evocative, and filled with love, just like you. I love him also. I know today is your long day, so I waited today and will call tomorrow to check on my dear friend. |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() You were blessed to have the love of a dear cat. I am so sorry you had to say good-bye to Karma. That beautiful cat brought so much love into your home and heart. He will never be forgotten. You must shed tears for this is a great loss but I tell you, that little cat will be waiting for you in a place more beautiful than she was. She will run and greet you and you will forever be with your lovely friend again. Now she is an angel cat forever in the presence of her creator. Are animals in heaven. I believe they are. |

| ![]() Gail, I am just now seeing this sad news about your beloved Karma. I know you loved him dearly. I had no idea he was sick but awhile back when he came up missing and was discovered sleeping in your closet I wondered then if something was wrong with him. I know it gives you some comfort knowing he is not suffering. I know you will forever cherish his wonderful memories.

He was so very very gentle, but so brave too, yah know? He and Magic had this deep respect for one another. Karma taught Magic how to "stalk", and Oh my goodness it is one of my fondest memories to see this big young dog, maybe 15 mths old, allow a walker to pass us by, and if he didn't like the look or smell, he would start to slooowww down, crouch, lift one paw up then the other, and begin to STALK that walker. OMFL. it was so funny and if that walker had turned around, they would about have had a heart attack. I am so sorry I never got that one on video. He is very much missed. Magic is looking for him, every day, he goes around the whole house. Razzle is limiting his search to wake up times, and in closets.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() I need to share something else here. In one of my classes where my yoga students had been with me a minimum of eight years and came 2 or3 times a week, when I shared the news I lost Karma. One student said/blurted out, well I wouldn't want to be a pet in your household! I was aghast at that comment, and so were the other students. A pregnant pause ensued, and I said "M..." that was very hurtful. But I too worry about who I might loose next. Let us just go on and start class Now. She did apologize to me afterwards, she only said this without thinking and from her own deeper losses of her own pets. But still it stung.............

| ![]() I'm so sorry that you were hurt by such an insensitive remark. It is so very difficult to lose one of our little ones who are loved so dearly, but to lose two in such a short span of time is unbearable. We struggled deeply when we lost Gracie four months after losing Kiwi. John is convinced she died of a broken heart after losing the sister she idolized, but little Gracie had serious trachea issues. Our hearts were broken, too, so much that we were unable to move forward with getting another sister for Ashley should anything happen to Gracie. We understand here and care deeply about your loss. Each time I hear stories about Karma and all of your furry loved ones, I smile, too. If your student only knew how lucky they are to be loved by you! |

| ![]() Wow! That was such an off-the-wall remark... SMH! I think that people who are insensitive at such times just don't know what to say or always say the wrong thing. Not a reflection on you, but on them... And I love your stories too... had me laughing out loud today! Kitties are something else!

| ![]() Just reading this Gail, so sorry to hear about Karma.... anytime a member of a family has passed it takes a tolle on the entire household... furkids and all. Hope that your memories of Karma keep his spirit alive and knowing that Karama is chasing Zoey's tail puts a smile on your face.

| ![]() For you and Karma. I'm sorry your journey with Karma in this lifetime ended so soon, but I believe you will one day in the distant future see your majestic boy again. THE JOURNEY--Crystal Ward Kent When you bring a pet into your life, you begin a journey — a journey that will bring you more love and devotion than you have ever known, yet also test your strength and courage. If you allow, the journey will teach you many things, about life, about yourself, and most of all, about love. You will come away changed forever, for one soul cannot touch another without leaving its mark. Along the way, you will learn much about savoring life’s simple pleasures — jumping in leaves, snoozing in the sun, the joy of puddles, and even the satisfaction of a good scratch behind the ears. If you spend much time outside, you will be taught how to truly experience every element, for no rock, leaf or log will go unexamined, no rustling bush will be overlooked, and even the very air will be inhaled, pondered, and noted as being full of valuable information. Your pace may be slower — except when heading home to the food dish — but you will become a better naturalist, having been taught by an expert in the field. Too many times we hike on automatic pilot, our goal being to complete the trail rather than enjoy the journey. We miss the details — the colorful mushrooms on the rotting log, the honeycomb in the old maple snag, the hawk feather caught on a twig. Once we walk as a dog does, we discover a whole new world. We stop; we browse the landscape; we kick over leaves, peek in tree holes, look up, down, all around. And we learn what any dog knows: that nature has created a marvelously complex world that is full of surprises, that each cycle of the seasons brings ever-changing wonders, each day an essence all its own. Even from indoors you will find yourself more attuned to the world around you. You will find yourself watching summer insects collecting on a screen (How bizarre they are! How many kinds there are!), or noting the flicker and flash of fireflies through the dark. You will stop to observe the swirling dance of windblown leaves, or sniff the air after a rain. It does not matter that there is no objective in this; the point is in the doing, in not letting life’s most important details slip by. You will find yourself doing silly things that your pet-less friends might not understand: spending thirty minutes in the grocery aisle looking for the cat food brand your feline must have, buying dog birthday treats, or driving around the block an extra time because your pet enjoys the ride. You will roll in the snow, wrestle with chewie toys, bounce little rubber balls till your eyes cross, and even run around the house trailing your bathrobe tie — with a cat in hot pursuit — all in the name of love. Your house will become muddier and hairier. You will wear less dark clothing and buy more lint rollers. You may find dog biscuits in your pocket or purse, and feel the need to explain that an old plastic shopping bag adorns your living room rug because your cat loves the crinkly sound. You will learn the true measure of love — the steadfast, undying kind that says, “It doesn’t matter where we are or what we do, or how life treats us as long as we are together.” Respect this always. It is the most precious gift any living soul can give another. You will not find it often among the human race. And you will learn humility. The look in my dog’s eyes often made me feel ashamed. Such joy and love at my presence. She saw not some flawed human who could be cross and stubborn, moody or rude, but only her wonderful companion. Or maybe she saw those things and dismissed them as mere human foibles, not worth considering, and so chose to love me anyway. If you pay attention and learn well, when the journey is done, you will not be just a better person, but the person your pet always knew you to be — the one they were proud to call beloved friend. I must caution you that this journey is not without pain. Like all paths of true love, the pain is part of loving. For as surely as the sun sets, one day your dear animal companion will follow a path you cannot yet go down. And you will have to find the strength and love to let them go. A pet’s time on earth is far too short — especially for those that love them. We borrow them, really, just for awhile, and during those brief years they are generous enough to give us all of their love — every inch of their spirit and heart, until one day there is nothing left. The cat that only yesterday was a kitten is all too soon old and frail and sleeping in the sun. The young pup of boundless energy wakes up stiff and lame, the muzzle now gray. Deep down we somehow always knew this journey would end. We knew that if we gave our hearts they would be broken. But give them we must for it is all they ask in return. When the time comes, and the road curves ahead to a place we cannot see, we give one final gift and let them run on ahead — young and whole once more. “Godspeed, good friend,” we say, until our journey comes full circle and our paths cross again. |
