You need to move at your own pace. I still have things for my girls around. I know they aren't here, but some things just make me smile.

I don't think you ever lose sight of the fact that your little girl is no longer there, but sometimes for a brief second, you might forget and an image of seeing her will be in your mind.

Zoey has touched many lives, and she will not be forgotten. She will live forever in your heart. You, my dear friend, remain in my heart always, and I pray that each day gets easier for you. Kate and I send you the gentlest kisses and hugs.

Dear Gail,
I am so sorry, Jack and I have been there where you are and still to this day miss our precious Cassie, we were so Blessed in finding this wonderful site and so many caring people that helped me to get through the journey which I had to face without her.
I pray your heart will find comfort, I believe God holds our fur loves forever in HIS care and will one day place them into our arms again. I still now and then find myself tearing when I drift back in my memories with her then find comfort in knowing what a gift she was to us while she was here, and we never really lost her but have given her back to God for safe keeping till we one day will join her, they will remain always in our hearts.
Please share your special times with all, it helps us to get through so much in life and what better place than YT to be able to do that, for this site holds so may caring and loving souls.

Awh my friend, you have seen how important to me that last morning was, despite the fact I knew I was saying good-bye over and over again to our girl. I'm not sure I have the words to explain it, the depth of feeling, the absolute rightness of being there, all together, to well just BE.

And the weather was so gentle, so so right. Even to the gentle breeze blowing over us.

Thank you my friend for your thoughts and yes over time we will rejoice in her many gifts to us.

Sorry I haven't been on YT in awhile, but found this post and my heart sank. I am so sorry about Zoey, but what a wonderful life she DID have with you, Gail. She was able to have plenty of adventures and had a compassionate & unselfish owner that knew that she was too precious to suffer with pain.

Thinking of you and hope that in time your grief will be replaced with wonderful memories and smiles when you think of her.

Just checking on you. You have been on my mind. How are you doing?

Jeanie, I've been up, then I've been down. Coping okay I guess. Living through the first times. The first time we've gone to a park she loved, and she is no longer with us.
The repetitive times I forget and I come home, all happy, and say Hey Ya boys n girls...stumble again.

The times when I'm asked well how many dogs do you have; I stumble upon the answer of 2 now.

I'm not so angry right now at Cancer. But I am obsessively checking over our other animals.

Thankfully the memory of her laying so exhausted, so drained, on the floor at the vets when we euthanized her, is slowly being replaced by other, much finer memories. Surprisingly it is the memory of her tail wagging. I can see it so so clearly. That long plume of a graceful tail. So evocative of her emotions.

I truly don't question our decision. Just sometimes question a Universe, that seems to take away our dogs way before their time. We had so much left to do. So many mornings to greet each other.

I am so sorry for your loss. Each person grieves differently, like many others have said, you need to do this at your own pace. But like you said, Zoey isn't in pain anymore and running free and having fun like a little one should. My heart goes out to you and your family.
