My furkids Donating Member | update on Pepsi I posted about week ago about my neighbors black lab, Pepsi who was attacked by a rabid skunk. Sadly Pepsi took her journey over Rainbow Bridge the day before Thanksgiving. The dog officer had contacted the state to see if she could quarantine her in an empty horse stall on her 8 acres of property and they said no....the dog officer said that they either had to bring the dog to the vet and have her put down or she was coming to the house to do it....This angers me! Again....if she had done her job in the first place this would have never happened...R.I.P Pepsi girl

| Very sad situation. I am so very sorry for Pepsi and family. What angers me is that we spend the $$ to have our animals vaccinated and then when they are exposed we are mandated to turn them over to be slautered and sent to the state for testing. I don't understand why Pepsi could not have been quaranteened for the incubation period - the end result may have been the same, but at least the family would have given Pepsi a chance. Kinda makes you think twice about "doing the right thing". |

| I'm so sorry! This is awful! I do not understand . I was always under the impression that you had the choice to have them observed for a certain amount of time IF they were not up to date on rabies vac. or the other. Is this a state law? I'm from oklahoma. We actually had a stray dog show up at our house when was younger that bit a neighbor and we paid the fees to have him observed and then he came home to us after. Why do we bother with vac. then???? |

| This is so sad I do not understand why they don't let you quarantine the dog. Maybe a vet could answer this question. My vet told me if my dog bit someone he or she has the choice to put her down . This law is in Minnesota and I feel you do not get a chance even if you have a rabies vacination. R.I.P. Pepsi my dear Keally probably has greeted you over the Rainbow Bridge. Prayers for you.
