| Goodbye for now, Chopper Our beloved Chopper is gone after escaping and being hit by a car. This also happened on the kids' first day of school, so what an awful thing it was for them to come home to. Ironically, the kids lost their grandfather unexepectedly to cancer a couple weeks before. Their grandfather, or Popo as they called him, was with us when we picked Chopper up from the breeder. It was also Popo who always loved to play fetch with him. Kids, in their infinite wisdom, come up with some very profound things. They told me that Popo needed Chopper up in Heaven to keep him company and play with him. Although they were such sweet innocent words from children, they were a big consolation to me. The grief and "what ifs" can be overwhelming some days. God bless all those who have also lost their little ones. You are not alone. |

| I am so sorry for your loss. It is comforting to think Popo and Chopper are now together playing fetch. Children, at times, seem to cope better than us adults. |

| OMG -- that is just what my son said when we lost Sadie earlier this year. We had lost my husband this past September. He was such an animal lover and every dog I brought home became his. Sadie was especially close to him. Just as your kids said, my son said that Sadie had to go because Dad needed one of the dogs with him. I think it comforted him to know they were together. I know that it did me too. Just as he said the words to me, I realized I was trying to form the thought in my own mind. I think kids are quicker to see these things because their hearts and minds are more open. I am sorry for your loss -- 'til we are all together again.

| I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom's dog, Carmen, died a little over a month ago and was also hit by a car. Everyone told us that my little brother Connor who passed away when he was 6 yrs old needed her more (he picked her out, and was his dog!)
