| ![]() Im so so sorry RIP sweet Spike. I know how you feel I knew my baby was dieing took her to 2 different hospitals, they gave her a shot and sent her home with me where she died in my arms. I guess nothing they could do for her and thought it was some thing we both needed to be with each other at that time. but It was so hard looking at her knowing I could not do any thing more for her. I cant get it out of my mind. praying for you that you can get past this, again im so sorry. |

| ![]() Ironman, I am so excited to know that you will be spreading the message. If I may suggest.....print your words exactly as you had written them here. There is no "How to" format that can ever match your heartfelt story. If you pass those words on to animal planet somehow, I have no doubt that the word will get out. It is way too common a mistake that we make thinking because we've taught them to swim that they will be safe. As a matter of fact, Rodak (our beloved rot/shepard) was in his final stages of cancer a few years back. In the process he had gone blind. At the time there was no gate to the pool. I was careful to always have the patio slider shut so he could no longer access the pool; yet someone left the garage back door open and he found his way to the pool. Now I have no idea how long the poor big man had been swimming in circles (and that dog lived for swimming). Luckily my roomate heard something out there and screamed. I jumped in in the dead of winter and was able to drag him to the side. For quite some time it plagued me WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. Big dogs, small dogs, great swimmers, poor swimmers. We must teach the world to be as vigilant as you are with kids around pools or any body of water. I cannot wait to see you and Spike spread the word. Fliers, pamphlets, news stations...your words as written here is all it will take. I'm so glad you've added JUNIOR to your clan. When Rodak passed, it wasn't long before we went to the pound and got Wallace. He is a big guy as Rodak was, which is why we picked him; yet his personality is all his..as it should be. Wee Ted came via my daughter. Never having had a little dog before it has been such a different experience. Those little buggers are larger in personality for sure. I'm glad you are starting to heal and using Spike's memory to give a loving home to another little guy, a friend to Gypsy, and a new adventure of making a difference through awareness. It's a bittersweet time for you, I'm sure. You did right by Spike when he was here and you're doing right by him now. Best of times to your family. Donating YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I'm so sorry you lost your little Spike. It is so hard to protect them as they are so small. I'm sure he is looking down from Rainbow Bridge and saying 'Don't cry for me Mom and Dad I'm happy here waiting for you".

| ![]() What a tragic thing has happened to your Spikie. I can feel the tremendous love you have for him and I am quite sure his death will not be in vain. We have an inground pool and when my Toby went blind last year before he died, it was a real concern that he would accidentally fall in and panic - thankfully he never did. We do have a pool cover, but as you know it only takes a few seconds. This year we have 2 two-year-old grandkids as well...so reading your heart-wrenching words also served as a bold reminder to take every precaution with our pool this summer, both for our grandchildren and grand-dogs. God bless, and I hope your efforts to raise pool safety awareness are successful. RIP little Spikie...may your legacy live on.
