| If you already love his personality then what does size really matter? Maybe he will just be a heavy framed pup and stocky and not necessarily very large height and length wise? You could always get another who will be smaller! LOL |

| My Harley is definitely the minority of the group because he is so large...20lbs. Yes, I typed that correctly, he's 20lbs.! He has gained about 4 or 5 lbs. in the past few months, he has always been larger than the norm. (He weighed 5 lbs. at 9 weeks.) We love him so very much and it has never crossed our minds to get rid of him because of his size. Good luck to you and your sweet puppy! Tammy |

| This thread is originally from a year ago. I believe she ended up keeping the puppy.

| My first Yorkie and only one so far was normally in the 5# range and I think for five minutes weighed 5.5. She died in January after 13 years, and hoping to rescue a Yorkie male who weighs 10 lbs. He is solid and shocked me when I lifted him for the first time since Sophie only weighed 4 lbs. when she crossed over. A 10 pounder or bigger, I don't care and anxiously await him entering my life forever.

| Dont do it! I think once the shock of him being 10lbs is over you will love him regardless and it wont even seem like he is 10 lbs. here is a link to pics of my boy http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88306 he is gorgeous and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I got him from a show breeder here in PR who really doesnt breed to sell to the general public and make money. She breeds to show. With that said i really dont mind getting her rejects if u catch my drift. to me its like a man who makes diamond that offers you the diamond scraps after he cuts them. He was 11 lbs when i got him, now he is 8 because i feed him what what the vet breeder and dog food package recommends for Yorkies. Funny thing is i never realize how big he was until i saw some yorkies who were like 2-3 lbs. IF you think about it compared to most dogs and even a real human baby, 10 lbs is really small. Plus you really don't know how big he will be. He is so beautiful that most people don't say MY GOD THAS A BIG YORKIE, but rather, were did you get him, or here in Puerto Rico, AY DIOS MIO QUE LINDO (omg how beautiful). I am getting another one in a week or so from the same breeder who is about 8-9 lbs and gorgeous. Dont cheat yourself out of a wonderful pet. Maybe the next one will have a horrible temperament and you will be wishing you would have never gave up the other. |

| Your Yorkie is beautiful. I have 6 Yorkie's all with different coats. My youngest Yorkie Carson had the most beautiful long hair. When he was 1 took him to a groomer and asked for a shorter cut but not to short. When i picked him up she said "Carson has curls " I looked a her and hought to my self curls ??? She brought him out and his hair was cut really short. I was soooo pissed I just paid her and left. After about a week I started love his new do and noticed he was happier with a shorter cut. He goes to the same groomer on Friday for his 3rd short hair cut, its so easy to be able to keep him cute !!!!!!! Maybe a shorter hair cut is what yours needs too. Janie |

| Oopps some how my post got posted on the wrong place. This was supposed go to someone who was aking about her Yorkie witth the long culry hair and how to maintain it. BtW... i have 6 Yorkies my biggest one is 12 lbs and he's a Mama's Boy. Breeders can never quarentee how big they will get because Yorkies gene's can go back 15 generations. I knew this and waited till I saw a small Yorkie for sale that was almost 6 mos old (prettty much their adult weight) She weighed less than 3 lbs and now three years later she is not even 4 lbs. | Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | My Lexie is about 10 lbs and beautiful. I wanted a slightly larger female to use for breeding though I wasn't looking for one quite that big. But I love her just the same. We plan on mating her with a very small male to better the chances of keeping her puppies small in size as adults. If I do this correctly, there should be a picture of her here. If not, go to the photo gallery

| Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Oh, and one more thing...if you still want a smaller Yorkie really bad, get another! You can never have enough of these cuties. I've got two and hope to have another sometime.
