| Yuki did something weird.... need help. Tonight we were all just sitting around watching TV and Yuki was laying on a pillow next to me. I suddenly felt warm and wet on my jeans, and when I stood up I realized that Yuki just peed on the couch while laying down. Granted, she does have potty issues (missing her potty pad, going on the carpet), but she's never just peed while laying on the couch. It was almost like she didn't even notice that it happened. Then, she went pee outside two more times within a 30-45 minute period. She's acting normal other than her frequent urination. She's also been trying to drink more water than usual. Has anyone else encountered this? Do you think she has an infection? I have not changed her diet or fed her anything new. I think I am going to take her to the vet in the morning. Thanks for your help. |

| She most likely has a Urinary Tract infection. Increased urination and drinking is a sign of it. Could also possibly be urinary incontinence since she was asleep when she peed. I'd take her to the vet and have a urinalysis done

| YuP Yup totally agree although I am not a vet but it sounds like a urinary/bladder infection or possibly bladder stones but more likely an infection... |

| She'll be 2 yrs old in December. I haven't been able to sleep because she keeps walking to her water bowl. She is abnormally thirsty. |

| My aussie did the exact same thing. The vet did an urinalysis and she said it was urinary incontinence and is treating her with medication and my girl is doing much better now. Wishing you the best! Is your baby spayed? Mine is and I've read that urinary incontience is 25% more widespread in spayed females |

| Update It's 6:00 a.m. and I've hardly slept. I finally gave in at 2:30 this morning and let her drink water (I wasn't giving her water because I didn't want her to go in the middle of the night). Well when I woke up just now, I noticed two wet spots on my comforter. She has also been licking herself "down there" quite often and scratching at her hears (this could just be me being paranoid, but I'm sure she has never done this as often as she is now). I'm pretty sure those are pee spots and she didn't even notice that she did it. I'm definitely going to take her to the vet in the morning. I really hope it is just incontinence and not something more serious like kidney failure or diabetes. I guess I never thought this would happen to a almost 2 year old healthy dog. She is spayed too. Thanks again for your advice. |

| I'd get her to the vet in case she has a problem.

| Update I took Yuki to the vet around noon yesterday. The doctor prescribed her Clavamox and did a urinary analysis on her. He will be calling with the results later today. I hope she will be ok. She doesn't seem to be drinking as much as she was last night, but I still think she is wetting herself while sleeping. This morning she was her hyper/normal self, but all afternoon and this evening she's been pretty lethargic and tired (I think it's from lack of sleep last night). Once I hear from the doctor I'll post another update. Thanks for all your support. |

| The vet called me a couple of hours ago to tell me that he found no white blood cells or blood in her urine, so it's not a UTI. He did say he found some type of crystals (which I guess aren't bad ones) and said that the urine seemed diluted. Hopefully it's just because she's been drinking a lot of water. He suggested that I finish the anti-biotics for the rest of the two weeks, and if she gets worse to bring her in for blood tests and x-rays. I am going to watch her closely for the next few days to make sure she is okay. She seems to be acting normal and not drinking as much anymore so I hope it stays that way. |
