Chewy's Mom---Sounds like a plan....I will be a nervous wreck..lol...okay I have to go for a visit beforehand and the earliest they had was July 16th @ 1pm, so maybe we could meet up beforehand with the dogs if you want!!! Hope much did you pay for the laser neutering when you did it?, Dr.Parr wasn't there I was only able to speak with the receptionist (told me to bring his vaccine schedule and after the check-up we could schedule the neuter)..ah and I will be pmming you for driving directions and/or which trains to take depending on what you think is better ... for the visit I figure whatever is easier..for the neuter I will definitley drive so Maximus can just rest.

For the past two weeks I've caught Piper humping several times already and he's only 15 weeeks old. He has humped my Chi, his own brother, and my leg...have a pic of that one

Here is the thing...I was told by my vet that it is a show of dominance. My FEMALE Chi, Pixie, humps my Boxer on occassion while he is laying down. She'll attempt to climb up on his tail end while he's resting and go to town. It's not only a male thing AND it's not a neutering/spaying thing. Pixie is a female and was spayed at several months old. The vet said it's a dominance thing...Nothing like seeing a little girl Chi "huckle-bucking" a Boxer...that's what we call it.

I was told to wait until Piper is 6 months old because of the teeth thing too. Our vet does the laser also. I was also told by other people that the earlier you spay or neuter the smaller they'll stay...lack of hormones to bulk them up or something like that. Not sure how true this is or not but wouldn't risk my Piper's health to find out.

I KNOW how LUCKY I am!!!! I have not had a male that humps humans! I have several intact males (and females) and I guess they get enough practice humping each other. LOL
I have the vet X-ray my babies' mouths and do the blood work a couple of days before the procedure is scheduled. That way, we can tell which, if any, baby teeth have been lost and is there are permanent teeth under the baby ones. I had one girl who had shed only 1 babytooth and I didn't have an X-ray done. She actually had lost 2 teeth and a permanent one was extracted. She had a wee space in her bottom teeth cause that perm tooth was removed. I prefer to have a puppy altered as early as possible so that is usually between 4-6 months. I will not leavemy babies overnight even though a vet tech is on overnight. I offer to sign an AMA (Against Medical Advice) but so far I have not needed to. I also request that my baby be done as early as possible so it has time to really react from anes-which is ALWAYS gas!!
Young animals are exposed to many germs in the hosp. and I want them out of there ASAP.

I am going to print this out so I remember to ask about getting this x-ray for the teeth and and also the bloodwork when I am there..Maximus will be 5 months and although no humans..he did do the doll and I am nervous..he weighs 4.5 lbs now and supposedly by the looks of his mother and father the breeder said he should gain another 1.5lbs and be 6lbs fully grown..he may surpass this..who knows, he's has a growth spurt these last 7 weeks almsot gained 2 lbs. the only thing I am really worried about are the teeth..but I will see what the doc says

Eeesssh!!!!..I just got off the phone with the woman who does the neutering at my vets office (I had called yesterday) before finding out about bideawee....they told me that they accept the freinds of animals certificates originally BUT...now the woman told me that she only accpets it for rescues and pet store pups...and since my file states I got him from a breeder..I have to pay the full cost..so okay, how much right...well try $406.00 ummmmmmmmm...do you se my jaw on the ground..this is NOT LASER..this is scapel... I hope Bide A Wee is a little cheaper otherwise I may just have to start selling my body..just joking...but maybe a part time job..I am still in shock..really!!

Wow! That's outragoeous!! I thought they wanted us to spay and neuter our pets?! That is insane! Now, I'm nervous. I was told if Tuck's other testicle didn't drop it would have to be even more invasive surgery than a regular neutering surgery! I'm going to have to call a loan shark!

That's what I said..... at least I am a responsible pet owner that cares and will get it done whatever I have to do...what about those people that are like eh!!! ...he's a boy who cares if he gets a dog pregnant and don't really care OR those that really just can't afford it because they have come on hard times and they would of done the neutering had it been affordable but because of this high amount won't....this is another big issue I am now seeing

Sam: i will send you my #, and we'll get together. Chewy hasn't actually been neutered yet, a couple of more months but I think it's $75 but since it is the summer they do it for free, just the $32 for the visit. I'll be happy to give you any directions, it's a good location. Talk soon
