I didn't miss the thread but I will not support those that don't know which side of the fence will get them the most votes.

That is POWER!!!! If we all did these simple things, we could make a difference.

I applaud whatever efforts anyone has already undertaken of course, but this is soooo easy that to not do it is something I could not comprehend.

Villette and Dawn~I started this thread at 2 yesterday and at 11 No one had responded to it. I found that unacceptable in light of the recent controversies on here and people's passion against puppymills. Everyone was feeling helpless and so I went out and found something simple for everyone on here to do to make a difference. I am sorry you have a problem with my "call to action". I felt like the thread must have been missed because I know how much we all want to DO SOMETHING to put these people out of business!
I swore I would not respond yet again to posts that beg for debate...and see that no matter what's said you must come back with yet another post...but in light of all the tragedy on this site today - can we give this a REST please ?

I can't imagine anyone on this forum not wanting to rally around a thread calling for the abolition of puppymills. It is not fathomable, although I never thought I would be getting this kind of negativity in such a non-controversial subject either and here it is.

We should do this to honor those babies that we lost so tragically this weekend.

What is it? No matter what I post about.... service dogs, coccidia, breeders wrongly accused, mixed breed vs purebred, whatever....there are a certain "few" on here ( always the smae members) who always find something negative to say. It is not just "expressing an opinion"...it is taking a strong opposing viewpoint and keeping it up until the thread has to be closed. There is a pattern and it is getting tiresome.

How can you take exception to a challenge to Do Something this easy agaisnt Puppymills?

Kim:

I think if you're going to continue cutting and pasting information on this forum, IMO, you should at least give credit to those that originally wrote the words and posted them online for viewing.

Your first post of this thread - credit should be given to http://petcaretips.net/puppy-mills.html because it is an exact copy and paste.

Here is the proper credit on the second post of your thread: http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affe...n_puppy_mills/

In college, this is called plagerism.
Passing off someone's work as your own is known as plagerism.

Individuals who plagiarize material deliberately are committing an illegal act. More common is the failure of an individual to cite the sources of their information. It's ok to use pictures and paraphrase text but be sure to cite the source of your information.

My convictions, moral judgments and decisions about right and wrong do not depend on "popular opinion". I do not pick what side of the fence I am on based on how many people are on that side. We need to have the courage to stand up for what we believe in and not give in to peer pressure or any other kind of "popular" pressure. Great change does not come from "following the crowd" and accepting things as they are.

Sometimes we need to take an unpopular stand to get people to think about the other sides of a situation.

I did not realize that this would be an unpopular idea.

Everything I posted and copied and pasted was done with the express permission of the entity holding the copyrights! The husa was thrilled that I was dispersing the info and gave me full authority to do so. For you to assume otherwise and accuse me of doing something illegal by attempting to give the people of this forum some way to feel they are helping is UNCONSCIONABLE!

Kim...no offense ...we DO 'rally around' these posts but it seems to always be a debate with you ......and sometimes it's just better to not say anything. Personally.... I'm trying to be that person that doesn't get into any more of these types of posts.

the fight against mills and pet stores is important - I'm ALWAYS against them -

No offense again....but you defend Pet Stores and many people just can't agree with that......and it's been covered in multiple threads lately - sometimes TOO much information is not a good thing. This isn't a race to see who has the last word....it really isn't...

I promised myself to stay clear of these posts....whatever you can do to help is great Kim. Can we leave it at that?

Oh -- I'm sorry . . . I must have missed this at the bottom of the first link I posted . . . Copyright © 2004 The Humane Society of the United States. All

What is unconscionable, IMO, is that you post these types of threads without mention of where you obtained the information. It appears as though they are your own thoughts when they are not. That is plagerism.

oh please stop me - I promised myself to stay clear of these posts....I'm sticking by my guns and beggin out of this....It is important to be against mills. Can we leave it at that?
I have never once defended a puppymill pet store and you continue in post after post to mislead people about this! I did not start the thread about the fact that not all pet stores are bad. I merely supported the people on here who got their puppies from non puppymill pet stores. That's all. Please stop inferring otherwise. Please quit attacking me.

If you not want a debate then don't start them. You and Dawn started this one by taking exception to my "call for action". You start most of them including the ones on coccidia, pet stores and service animals.

Default thread

How can we stop mills and support pet shops at the same time? Even pet shops who buy from so called"reputable" breeders..the problem is separating the wheat from the tares. We tell our chidlren not to talk to strangers..most strangers are perfectly fine people, but there is no way of knowing..we err on the side of safety.

The average Joe can not tell what shop does what..many flat out lie. How can the buyer go to visit these breeders and see for themselves? The fact a breeder allows their pups sold in a shop makes them someone I perfer not to deal with...and if my blanket, narrow minded anti-pet shop statements make me less credible, so be it..I can only offer what I know and have seen through experince, anyone is free to use this advise or ignore it. I do it all the time myself.
Best wishes and I know the poster is passionate about educating.

I'm sorry you feel attacked ...it's NOT meant that way - this is what I responded to above - if this got off on a different angle - please re-read the thread. No attack was made by me - just replying to your original post since I happen to be one of the "Complainers" about Mills and Pet Stores. Sorry if you took what I said wrong -

I said ...no offense - you asked why no one responded - I saw the post - I just gave up and it's been too sad this morning for all this.

Pat~

I deeply respect your opinion but, imo, the logic is missing.

To follow your argument to it's logical conclusion, we would have to say, "since the 'average Joe' cannnot tell a reputable breeder from a bad one, then we should not allow any breeders."

You could also logically ask:

"How can we stop puppymillers and support breeders at the same time?" The average Joe cannot tell a good breeder from a puppymill breeder.

The source of the problem is "puppymill breeders" and everyone agrees with that so let's stop the puppymillers...go after the source, not the peripherals.
