YT 2000 Club Member | Question on visiting new puppy I got to go see Jeter at 3 day's old. My breeder has told me that I could come back at any time over the next 12 weeks. My Question is at what weeks would be best to notice the changes, I would like to go every week but I don't want to impose. I am just wanting to get a good sight at different stages, like when He opens his eyes and things like that. |

| When I picked out my Sammy and Sophie I visited once a week. With Sophie I left a little blanket and shirt with our smells on them. By the time we picked her (around 9 and a half weeks) up she was used to her name and us. Our breeder was great and suggested the bonding experience. I think it helped alot.

| Most puppies will open their eyes and begin to walk, bark, growl and wag their tails around 3 weeks of age and will progress from there. Around 4 weeks they should be walking fairly well and playful. Good luck with your new puppy.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I don't let folks come to see the puppies until after they have had their first shots (the puppies--not the people). I send pictures every week--haven't figured out how to video yet. Jake's parents have come to see him every other week since he was 5 weeks old. Dylan's parents, lived around the corner and came over every week while they were waiting for him. The buyers tell me the puppy's name and by the time the pup goes home he knows his name. |

| i also refuse to let people near my babies until they have had first shots. I am really surprised the breeder is allowing you to do this. That is not good at all. I send pictures but sometimes not even that because i don't take deposits until about five weekss or so, so how would I know who to send what picture to. |

| I don't allow anyone to visit my pups until a few days after their first set of shots.... People can bring in fleas on their clothes, virus and other illnessess on their shoes. When I come in from a dog show or anywhere else I remove my clothes, shower, etc. before going into the whelping/puppy area. My vet won't even do a puppy check until after hours and brings the pups into a sterilized room.

| When I got Mia I saw her when she was 2 weeks old. The breeder didn't let me see her again until she was 5 weeks because someone had come in to her house who had visited a pet shop and brought Parvo into her house and her Yorkie who was 7 weeks old caught it and died. Parvo is extremely contagious and can be carried by a person on their shoes or clothing. She had to disinfect her whole house with bleach. Needless to say I was scared beyond belief until Mia was cleared and given her shots. So no it's not a good idea to visit until they have had at LEAST their first puppy shots.

| I think they should have their first set of shots before anyone goes near them.
