| Need another dog for my yorkie. Need help Picking out which breed. I have a 4 month old yorkie male and i want to get another puppy. I want a bigger dog. Kinda like a protector or something. plus i like big dogs. I think my yorkie teddy might be a big one though. he is 4 months old and a little over 6 1/2 pounds. These are the puppy breeds im thinking about buying in the next week or so. Blue Pitbull Rottweiler English Bulldog around 8 weeks old for either one. also would it be better to get a boy or a girl? | We have 3 inside dogs and 2 outside dogs(ones ours and ones our sons), Golden retrievers are great with other dogs and kids, and so is our shepherd..as long as they come as a puppy to you now, you should be okay.. |

| I would opt for the bull dog. I would fear the other two might be too aggressive for your little Yorkie.

| and as far as male or female? Well, is your little guy going to be neutered? if not, I would get a female, if he is neutered or going to be, then you could get a male..I would never own two unneutered males. |

| How about you just do some research on different breeds of dogs that might go well with your family. I think that getting a large-breed, potentially aggressive dog within the next week without thinking it through, could end badly... I love all three of those breeds, but I would never let my Wobie near them, especially unsupervised.

| What about a Schnauzer or a Border Collie. Those Collies are amazing. I don't think I'd trust a Rotti or a Pitbull around a Yorkie. My Yorkie was torn apart by a boxer. |

Just want to add that if he to be unneutered and you get a female, be sure to get her spayed..

| It depends on your lifestyle. If you like to jog or even walk alot the English Bull Dog would not be for you. The breeds you mentioned will take alot of training to control and it is better to buy a security system for protection if you are not aware of what a large dog like at least two of these involve. There is a good book "Good Dog, Bad Dog" that tells the good points of each breed and the bad and believe me they all have them. This might help you make your decision. Good Luck

| I think as long as you research your breed and make an educated decision on what is right for your family and lifestyle then you would be ok with just about any type of breed. We have 2 labs, 1 tiny boston terrier and my yorkie. A Boston terrier is a great "tough" looking dog and a great mix with a yorkie

| Go for the English Bulldog!!! The other two are bad news for toy dogs and other people. I dont know how many times I have gotten calls that a German Shepherd, Rottie, Pit bull, or Jack Russle killed the family Toy breed and they want another one. The only thing you need to worry about an Englis Bulldog is it stepping on the Yorkie. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Rottnluv I loved my rottie. She had a great temperment and demeanor. I sent her to Old Towne School for Dogs to be trained when she was about 11 weeks old and from there she was just great! Alot of people fear Rotties because of their size but I think dogs are like children, it's about how parents raise them. Rotties are highly trainable dogs, that is why police, border patrol and security use them alot. They love to work. Ever since ours was trained we would walk her and use all the commands she learned so she felt like she was working. haha! The only con to owning a Rottie is the teething stage can be very destructive to your house and furniture. As far as having a big dog and a yorkie. I would suggest that you just let the yorkie have its time to establish her comfort and rank in the house. A good year and then introduce a rottie as a puppy. Because the rottie will be on the yorkies territory and not vice versa. So the yorkie will be the alpha dog. |
