| Mindy is pretty easy to keep brushed but she does get some tufting as well. It requires a ton of patience. I use the small wired brush that has soft metal bristles very close together first and then I follow with the metal comb to remove the tangles. Mindy doesn't like it either but she is pretty good about it. The only area I have no luck with is her back end and I just don't worry about it too much. Eventually I will get her groomed and have the tangles removed from that area. Emu oil in the bath water works pretty good. I use Dove Baby Wash for her shampoo, which is tear free and I use human conditioner and I have had no problems with skin irritation and she smells so good. I've tried the puppy shampoo and it made her itch. Imagine that! Mindy is 6 months, I would give it a little time if you would like a little longer coat. If none of these suggestions work then maybe you need to keep her body short but you can keep her face longer and still have a topknot. Good luck!

| I'm a big fan of the puppy cut. I'm trying to let Penny's grow, but we'll see how long that lasts.

| We're in the same boat, my little one is 4 months this 29th. I just bought a brand called Perfect Coat- Clear choice Detangling Grooming Spray. It has a yorkie on the front. It says it removes mats & tangles from wet and dry coats. I used it last weekend after her bath and it worked. Good luck. |

| Gracie used to knot just like you described. On her, she would knot where her mature coat joined the puppy coat. I finally just cut it all off. Have not had a significant knot since.

| Hi Dawn -- I know what you mean. The fine puppy hair is almost like down on a duck and it can tangle easily. Some of it pulls out in little tufts because it is time for it to fall out. All of it should transform to the more easily maintained adult hair over time. I found the Cowboy Magic Detangler to work wonders. My girl has wild hair and I leave the Cowboy Magic in after a shampoo -- any little tangles come right out without hurting. My male, Ben, has silky hair that tends to look a little greasy if I leave the Cowboy Magic Detangler in. So, for him, I put it on, comb him well, and then rinse. If I find a knot while brushing between shampoos, I just put a tiny bit of the CM Detangler on the spot and rub it in. Then you can comb right through it. I also keep some CM Detangler watered down in a spray bottle to use when I brush since brushing dry is rough on their coats. I am not crazy about the Cowboy Magic shampoo, but I love the Detangler.

| I also am a fan of the puppy cut. I have 3 and would be forever combing and brushing if we didn't. We live in Florida and I also think it is cooler for the them. When Lexie had her 7 puppies, we nearly shaved her so the babies could all get to her and she was so much easier to keep clean. I also use human shampoo with a cleaner and conditioner in one, and have never had any problems.

| I haven't had any trouble with mats on Bella, I use a finishing spray that I picked up at pet co and I use johnsons shampoo on her head, oatmeal puppy shampoo on her body and then puppy creme rinse. I always spray her coat before brushing it and use a metal tip brush with no balls on the ends and a flea comb for her nose and underarms and tail
