| Congratulations, I bet you are very excited for your new pup. Bella had her dew claws removed and her tail docked so I didn't even think about it. I have never had any problems with the dogs I have with dew claws still intact so really it's just not a big enough deal to put the pup through it, it's just not necessary. Like everyone else said, just clip them like the normal nails and all will be well.

| yeah.. i guess i will just leave it.. maybe.. im still just not sure. ill ask the vet about it also and get their advice but i definately appreciate everyones advice. i dont think it will be a big deal either but i hear about the probled donms ant want my little guy having any problems.. or pain! somaybe i will make sure to keep it trimmed enough so it doesnt get in the way if i decided to leave it. anyone know of any good sites or advice that will help me train him? im good on the potty training but i wanna know whats the best way to train him to sit and do tricks like when i go "bang!" and he falls over. this is my first dog ever (i get him wednesday) and i want him to be the smartest! im a young guy 23yrs old and dont have a girlfriend or kids so my doggy is going to be like my aqdopted son |

We've all shared our tricks and tips on the "sit" command - super easy, the "come" command - easy with a treat, but challenging otherwise, and others (I wannna learn the "bang" trick too though). Then post whatever questions you don't find answers to. You'd be amazed at what great little ideas I've gotten from everyone right here even though I've trained my dogs for years!! You're going to have fun!!
