If we are going to dog on (pardon the pun) mixed breeds, maybe I'm a member of the wrong site. Keep in mind that all dog breeds were mixed breeds at one point in time and for that matter, the yorkie breed is only 100 yrs old. I think the "intentional" breeding of mixed breeds is perfectly fine to breed the best characterstics of both breeds in question. If it is done is a resposible manner, I think there should be no debate.

You pick up quickly...Most people here on YT don't agree with mixing breeds.

I think your pup is adorable. Let me guess...Yorkie and Maltese?

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, Yorkies were also bred small because the king didn't want anyone to have a dog large enough to kill big animals, such as deer, because that was his food. Yorkies were then the peasants dogs. They had to be able to jump through a 7 inch hoop. Yorkies would sleep in the cupboards to keep the rats away. Sometimes they would be used as shop rags. Workers would wipe their dirty hands on the long coat. I remember reading this somewhere. I thought it was really interesting.

Well I am pretty sure Bailey's mom does not "use" him to catch rabbits, he just does it because he likes it and I do think it is a trait all dogs are born with. They are in fact hunters by nature. I know people today that use border collies to herd sheep...they are herding dogs and have been for a very long time...it is what they are bred to do. I think most breeders breed dogs to sell and to show. It is up to the owner what the dog is trained to do from there. But I still feel that hunting instincts are natural instincts that have been within dogs since the beginning of time. And I do think if Yorkies are bred correctly they DO carry the natural hunting and tenacious attitudes of their ancestors. They are terriers after all!

I think it's terrible not only that you'd take a picture of your dog holding a dead baby rabbit, but also be so proud of it by posting it on YT. I guess you condone that. Poor rabbit. Elaine

umm I dont think she's proud that its a dead baby rabbit, she's proud that her dog can do what it is "suppose to". Dont you guys think your making a bit of a big deal about that?
