| Some people have no manners, that's it. If you don't want people to pet your dog, just leave it home. Milo gets petted by everybody when we go on a walk - and I love it. He's a very sociable little dog, and will play with anybody, dog, child, or adult if they are willing to. And they usually are. On the other hand, there's a (stupid, bad-mannered and snob) woman with a tiny yorkshire living nearby, who doesn't let ANYBODY get close to her dog. I've seen her scream to people who wanted to see him - and sadly, among those people there was a yong man with a baby dalmatian who just wanted to play and a disabled little girl on a wheelchair. How can she refuse a wheelchair-bound child to pet her dog? Fortunately, dog-owners in my area are usually very nice, and that woman is the exception. Last edited by Agosto; 10-08-2007 at 06:40 AM. |

| Sounds to me like she got up on the wrong side of the bed! Remember, what goes around, comes around.

| I come across jerks like that all the time while walking my dogs. Fortunately 90% of the people are friendly and nice. Little children are naturally drawn to Yorkies because they are tiny and cute. Some people are just nasty and mean. I just move on quickly when I run into someone like that.

| I always compliment Yorkies when I see them around and very frequently when I do not have mine with me I get the snobby attitude. That is when I love to casually tell them "I have five Yorkies at home" people always choke on that...hehe A few weeks ago I was at a local mall and I saw a lady with a baby (3 months old?) Yorkie. It was soooo cute. I had my Shayley with me and held her up to he girl and said "Your dog is so cute" she looked at me and said "Yours is too, what kind if dog is that?" I told her "Mine is a Yorkie too and this is what hay grow up to look like". She was clueless...some dumb ?Oh, I have so many "Yorkie stories" about how I'm told that my just under 4 lb. Yorkie is big and people want the "you know, little ones". I always tell them "the standard" and they too are clueless. Then I refer them to this site for useful information on the breed. One more, last week, while picking my kids up from school one of the fathers, who I do not even know came up to me with his daughter to show her my Shayley (I take her everywhere ). He told her look how cute she is and then proceeded to tell me that he is use to seeing the "little ones" and mine was kind of big hen he walked away with a snobby attitude. I wanted to throw something at the back of his head. I guess in Los Angeles, there must be a lot of tinies??? I love all Yorkies and there is nothing wrong with bigger or smaller but since when did the general public become the judges in heir size and who gave some people the right to be such snobs! Oh, I just re-read my post and I sound kind of mean...I am not I promise. I was wanting to start this thread and I just posted it here "venting".

| Unfortunately there's a lot of that out there... Not everyone is going to be as kind as you are and in fairness that lady could have been having the worse day ever?!? I try to be bias in all situations because we can tend to be selfish at times and rather one sided... Question: After the first two questions (and you saw her obvious attitude) what would make you ask her yet another question? I mean, its kinda obvious that she didnt want to be bothered, right?

| Senior Yorkie Talker | @autumn star: Oh my, your husband's term fits perfectly for her! lols... Whenever I take my babies out of the house they have this magical spell wherein people you think won't talk to you actually starts a conversation with you and I appreciate it very much. They open more doors to friendships. I pity the rude lady for taking this for granted. I feel sorry for her yorkie as she just uses the dog just for stature and neglects the dog's need for socialization. I think she's rude because nobody says she's adorable! lols... Though there are many snob and rude out there, it never was our loss nor should we feel bad because we are doing the right thing of being nice and appreciative of beautiful beings (like our yorkies). Our lives are more colorful and brighter than theirs.

| Why or why cant people just be nice If your going to take these babies out in public, expecy people are going to want to touch , talk , or just plain curious, last week at a church picnic there was a litle yorkie an there had to be about 10 people swormed are her, ton of kids, and i to felt bad for the dog, I could here the owner yelling to stay away, dont touch, its not the people who are just adoring our babies its the rude owners that should keep there babies at home and it was hot and at least 200 people, just way to many ya know, I just looked on from a distance and shook my head.

| Senior Yorkie Talker | @littlewhip It must've been really stressful for the yorkie to be subjected into that large, congested crowd. You're right that owners must anticipate the situation of the place where they'll bring their babies (that is, if they truly love and care for them). Owners who use their dogs for their image and stature and personal attention (without attention to the needs of their furballs) don't deserve to have dogs at all. Owners influence their dogs' personality and it's terrible for a sweet puppy grow into a rude dog. ![]() @Proud Mommy ...Well of course they are! Anyway, practice makes perfect and you'll just say 'thank you' and not even notice it.
