New Car Seat I am so proud of myself! Snoodles is terrible in the car, whining and jumping all over the place. Was afraid she would cause a wreck. Car seats are very expensive so, I went to K-Mart and bought a plastic step stool, the sides are open, but have a band around the bottom of the legs. Then I bought a plastic stack bin (front side is open) I came home and drilled 4 holes through them (stacked the bin on top of the stool so she would be high enough to see out)bolted it together, added a nice new soft pillow, and tied a leash to it so I could attaach it to her halter and :viola! I have a great car seat. I can connect the car seat belt to the bottom stool, or the bin has slats on it and can connect it through there. I'll have to see which works better next time I take her. It cost me $22. including the $10. pillow! Pat

Smart thinking! Yeah, the most important thing is the seat is padded and they are tied into it somehow. Very nice, you should show it off by posting a picture of it if you can.

Can't seem to post pictures from this side. I have to scan them from my printer, and the forum won't take them. A gal on my bird forum resizes them for me, so if I get a pic will put it on. Fastteddie! I bought a really nice soft pillow at K-Mart $10. I sewed that into it so it wouldn't come out, and then I used a leash and connected it to the bin so that she is connected and can't come flying out if God forbid there is a car accident. And______she can no longer jump into the steering wheel! Yea!

Yea! Yea! I put it in today and everything worked great! the seat belt went through the "stool" and tightened real good. Mine is the shoulder and seat belt in one, so had to use that metal clip to keep it tight. I put her harness on and then connected it with the leash I tied like crazy to the "bin" part. You would not believe how well it worked. She is at window level or a little above, so she can look out and see the world going by. I'm so happy! And she is now safe-----and so am I!

If she resizes them for me and then e-mails them back to me, I can get them in. But really, just go to K-Mart and get the plastic stool. It is open on the bottom, but has a piece all around the very bottom of it. Then, get one of the stack bins. They are white and have slits in them. Then, just drill your 4 holes and bolt them together. I added the leash that connects to her harness to the cornor, as it is stronger there. Add a pillow and that's it! Easy as pie. The seat belt goes through the stool part. Pat

| I am a firm believer in pet car seats. When my toy poodle was only about 9 weeks old (about 15 years ago), I had a wreck in my car - totalling the car but not injuring either of us - because he was running around in the car. Of course, partly my fault too for fussing at him and trying to get him to sit on his side. Sure, right - like he was going to listen! Anyway, I was quite nervous about him riding in my car from then on and so when we got Tatum I had to search around for car seats. I got the lookout seat which looks like this... http://www.pettails.com/consolelookout.html ... sorry, can't seem to post the picture here. Tatum absolutely loves it. She jumps in it as soon as I put her in the Tahoe. I think she feels safe and happy that she can see out. No matter what kind of car seat you use, I really think it's an important thing to have.
