| I have a question about males. Help please. Ok, Now I feel like the silly one. But here goes. Winstin (just over 3 months) was sleeping on my lap. He was laying on his back. I happened to notice he is a little dirty from peeing. Here is my question, Has he just not learned to clean himself after he pees, or does he need wiped after he goes? I already have to clean his bottom every once in a while because he will get a small piece of poop stuck on his hair, but I really had not noticed the pee before. Until now. What is the rule of thumb on this subject?

| I don't believe a dog cleans himself like cats do in that respect. Whenever I bring Buddy from outside I always wipe off his feet and lipstick with a wet paper towel. |

| Thanks for the fast replies. I will get some wipes Do I need to watch what kind I get? He does lick himself some but its rare. His belly is fine, its just his boy parts. His belly only seems to get wet when he does not lift his leg. My big girls have always cleaned themselves. So this was a bit of a shock.

| The baby wipes are a good idea. I also have both Spike's and Sugar's bellys shaved a little above their peeper.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Hi! I have boys and I never have to wipe them from peeing. Their pee pee hair is wet but it doesn't get dirty. But an occasional butt cleaning does tend to happen here and there! |

| Max actually cleans (well, I have to admit I didn't think of it as "cleaning") himself after he pees; he licks his weenie when he's done. He's always clipped short and his belly is pretty much shaved, but in between groomings, I clip the hair on his wee-wee when it starts growing over it just b/c after awhile, it starts to make him smell a little more like a dog, LOL. The wipes are a good idea though too!

I to love my boy! He is so very loving. My husband calls him my new boyfriend and love. I just keep reminding him that there are some things Winstin could never and would never do. I have noticed that his hair around his eyes is needing trimmed, I did do some on the bottom of his paws. I just need to learn how to do it all or find a good groomer. Thank you all who have been responding, I really appreciate it.

| I actually went to PetSmart and bought doggy wet wipes - in between bathing and grooming trips. They are very similar to baby wipes, smell the same too. We use them to clean Charlie after he goes potty and pee. You can buy them in a box - we keep one at home and one in the car. They work out great!
