Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | How much to feed my PG yorkie Okay, from yesterdays post you know Lexie is PG. So here comes my first question...How much do I feed her? I know, and have, switched her to a high quality puppy food, I mix canned with dry kibble. She was somehow managing to lick all the canned food from the bowl and leaving the kibble, but is slowly starting to eat the kibble also (sometimes). Must be her increase in appetite starting. Anyway when I asked my vet how much to feed her she just said "As much as she'll eat", but me being me, I work better with set amounts of some sort. I can feed her either 2 or 3 meals a day. In doing that, how much would any of you suggest to feed her at each feeding? Keep in mind, this is for a pregnant dog. Thanks for your help

| Different breeders do it different but here is how I do it. I keep my breeding females on puppy kibble at all times anyway. I leave it down so they can get it whenever they want. When I find out they are pregnant or within a week or two after I have bred them, I start adding wet puppy food two times a day. With about a week to go, on one of the wet meals, I add a tablespoon of cottage cheese. After they whelp, they get three extra meals a day plus the whelping pudding. pm me if I can help anytime. |
