Yorkie Talk Quilt I wonder if anyone would be interested in a Quilt from Yorkie Talk members? I was thinking that we could each make a Quilt Block then send it to the next member and they add a block and send it on to the next and on and on. Maybe someone has a quilting machine and they would take it and quilt it at the end of the line or we could have a meet up and hand quilt it all together. Then we could sell it and donate the proceeds to a Yorkie Rescue. It could all be pictures of our yorkies for the quilt block? What do you think? And if anyone knows more about what size block and how to put it all together, please help with that sort of advice too. |
I think that would be awesome. Of course, I don't sew, but I'd buy a raffle ticket to win it! |
I have no ideal even how to put a picture on a quilt I would need help. But I would join in... the procces and buy a ticket also... |
I helped do something similar once for a church member who was moving. Different members of the church each made a square symbolizing something this couple was fond of. At the end, 5 of us met at the church to put the squares together, then another member took it to be quilted. (Each square was 10 X 10. I'd love to help do this, the only thing is I don't know how to put a pic of my yorkies on a square. What if each square symbolized something about YT yorkies - for example - a soccer ball on a square, an outline of a yorkie appliqued on a square, etc.? Do you think that'd work? |
OK - I'm sewing challenged but a professional YT shopper..hehehe...I would most definitely buy a raffle ticket....or two...or three......lol. Great idea - I hope this works out. :D |

I sew, but am not a quilter. Avery makes iron-on T-Shirt Transfers available at Office Depot. I have used them to put pictures on sweatshirts. Would it work for a quilt?? I would suggest using a 12" block. |
Thats awsome idea!!!! I know a lady that I work with that can do anything to a quilt!! Of coarse me, I can't sew. |
Sounds like a great idea! I'm not much of a sewer though :( I would love to learn how to do a quilt! |
I'm in let me know:D Great idea |
I'm in! I'll keep checking for updates. I can help out with those who don't sew or just need help putting a square together. I'm not a quilter though so I can't help there. Anyway... let me know if I can help. |

Can you ask her for some advice on how to go about putting pix on and putting it together if we can't find anyone else? I know the malls usually have a place you can get photographed and put your pix on a t-shirt, but don't know about just putting on a quilt block. How would we go about a fundraiser on here? Can ADMIN collect the money and have the tickets? I did not think of some of these complicated things. Any ideas anyone? Also, wouldn't we need a certain color scheme? |
I love this idea! :) How creative. :D |
I would love to make a sqaure or two. I have quilted before and I would be willing to help someone out if they needed it. Some of the basics are easy if you know your sewing machine and have the right cutting tools. But I think that we really do need some sort of color ideas. Like a couple main colors that go together and then we can have examples on here and we can go and get whatever we need. Also I am for making a quilt 10'' square and sending it to one place. The person twords the end of the quilt will be paying a ton for shipping by the end of the quilt top. They can get heavy after a while. Plus are we wanting to make a king, queen or a lap quilt to auction off? That will let us know how many squares to make. |
The one I helped put together was 5 squares across and 7 squares long. It had 3 inch strips between each square and a 7 inch border all way around. The strips, border, and backing were all from the same fabric. The last square was embroidered with the name of the church and the date it was completed. I really want to help with this project, but I also want to be able to buy tickets to win it:) |
